| Yes, I believe there will be an end to all life on earth as we know
it. Unless someone gets crazy with deadly nuclear, chemical or biological
substances, I don't think it will occur in our lifetimes. If we're not
careful, we could deplete the earth of enough of its resources that we
choke ourselves to death.
I think the so-called end-times are not for us to dwell upon too much.
And I also think far too many do.
Peace,
Richard

I try not to spend a great deal of time worrying/wondering about it..I have
friends and loved ones that I'd like to spend eternity in heaven with. None-
theless, I believe the evil that is present in the world today in increasing
intensity, the growing anti-Christian/Bible factions and the increasing
complexity of the problems that mankind faces points to the possibility
that we could indeed be in the end times as prophesied..I believe we
are, FWIW.

i think ice is nice, and will suffice.
End times are not a major concern of my theology.
Whatever happens, I have only the present to act in,
to make good my witness.

Revelation 11:18b says that God will bring to ruin those ruining
the earth. I have mentioned this before in another note string
but cant remember where. Fortunately, this prophecy says those
ruining rather than those who have ruined it. This century for
the first time in history mankind has realised that he is ruining
the earth, God's intervention will be soon. For his purpose for
creating the earth is to have it inhabited and not lifeless,
Isaiah 45:18.

I don't see how it follows that "God's intervention will be
soon" from the fact that we are finally realizing our
ability to "ruin the earth".
In one sense, because of the design of the earth's systems,
ruin does come to those who ruin the earth -- no special
intervention on God's part is required. :-}

Bob,

; soon" from the fact that we are finally realizing our
; ability to "ruin the earth".
True, I mean't from the perspective that man can foresee the earth
in a ruined state in the none to distant future because of his current
actions. This prophecy shows that God's intervention will happen
during the time period when man is ruining the earth, the question is
how much longer can man go on before his actions would bring the
earth into a ruined state?. God foresaw man ruining the earth and
promised to step before it is ruined, quite an amazing prophecy as
we are seeing the first part being fulfilled in our day.
I agree with you that disasters will increase as man continues to
ruin the earth. Through disasters many people will loose their
lives, but God's Word does tell us that he will intervene. If
he foresaw the events that we see now, then we can also accept
and recognise that, through his wisdom, he will intervene. That
is bring to ruin those ruining the earth.

| This is the seventh trumpet judgement of Revelation. I don't believe
this solely addresses the abuse of the earth's environment. In fact,
this judgement consists of the seven bowl judgements and came about due
to rebellion toward the Alpha and the Omega. This is the primary
purpose of these judgements.

| .8 The Revelation of St. John the Divine is a mysterious little
book, deliberately codified to shield its meanings from Christianity's
early enemies. Much of its original symbolism is now lost, yet there
is an endless variety of possible interpretations. The Revelation was
written to strengthen and comfort early Christians living under persecution.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, either spelling is correct.

801.14 | The earth can also picture human soceity. | RDGENG::YERKESS | bring me sunshine in your smile | Tue Dec 21 1993 08:16 | 29 |
| RE .8
Jack,
I would have to agree with what you wrote in your last reply. Today,
human soceity is being ruined, we see an increase in lawlessness
culminating in violence. The account of the flood is similar to
Revelation in that God brought to ruin those ruining the earth.
For example Genesis 6:11-13 RSV reads "Now the earth was corrupt
in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw
the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted
their way upon the earth. And God said to Noah, 'I have determined to
make and end of all flesh; for the earth is filled with violence
through them; behold, I will destroy them with the earth.' No doubt
you know the account of Noah and the Ark, and Peter said that this
would be a pattern for ungodly persons of things to come (2 Peter 2:6).
What did happen?, the earth or human soceity back then had become
corrupt, violence was everywhere, God saw this and decided that enough
was enough. By bringing the flood, he brought to ruin those ruining
the earth or human soceity. Faithful Noah and his family were not
destroyed, Jehovah had ensured that they were saved from the flood.
The literal earth to was not destroyed, but the wicked human soceity was.
Those ruining the earth (literal and human soceity) today, picture
well the corrupt and greedy persons who exploit for their own
personal gain, having no concern for their Grand Creator or His
creation.
Phil.
