691.0. "The Way of the Wolf" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (We will rise!) Fri May 28 1993 12:07

I know we have a topic on literature related to Christianity, but
I think this deserves a topic of its own.

There's a book called _The Way of the Wolf_. I've heard a couple
of the stories contained therein. I found them to be haunting in their
simplicity and power.

One story had to do with love and sacrifice. The lead character
was a bunny named Barrington. Another had to do with enduring friendship.
I think one of its characters was a porcupine.

If you're familiar with it, what are your thoughts about TWotW?

Peace,
Richard

Wow! Send me back 22 years, why don't you?

I actually have that book. There's also another "article" about
children of God on a "march" acting like children, wandering down
to the water and getting stuck and having to be rescued. It's not
a forced march... and so on. It's been a long time.

What struck me about the Barington story were the words, "It is a
gift, a free gift, with no strings attached."

I'll have to try to resurrect it when I get home.

    Thanks for the memories :-)

I remember at youth camp in high school the pastor who was the
guest speaker did a dramatic storytelling of Barrington bunny.
I was crying myself into a puddle. I wasn't alone either. There
was not a dry eye in the house. I thought it was a good analogy
of the sacrifice that Christ made for us. That story really had
a impact on me...I remember that camp experience and specifically
that story as one of the turning points in my life. Thanks for
the title of the book Richard.

.1 I remember that line with special warmth.

Could that have been in the NorthWest corner of Connecticut?

Nope...it was Lichen Ranch in NW Colorado. Closest I ever got to
going to camp in Connecticut was Spofford, New Hampshire.

For the benefit of those who might have difficulty deciphering
fables, allegories, and the like, the wolf represents God.
