688.0. "The Pearl of Great Price" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (We will rise!) Wed May 26 1993 12:42
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking
goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went
and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46 (KJV)
"But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall
be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms;
provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens
that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
Luke 12:31-33 (KJV)
It appears to me that there is a connection between these two sayings,
especially if you conceptualize the "pearl of great price" as life in Christ.
Peace,
Richard
