| I am comfortable with the concept of experiencing the "Kingdom of God"
or "Kingdom of Heaven" before death. I feel no need for a "carrot strung
from a stick" afterlife enticement.

Oooo! That's one of those "What is life?" questions.
'Don't think I can adequately answer that one. I might recommend
reading the gospel according to Luke for starters, however. Many
clues are provided therein.

| Kingdom of God... Well, one approach is to think of it as a "Kingdom
made of God." Going with that thought, what is this Kingdom about?
Well, what is God? Stepping further out on a limb I submit that God is
Love. Sooo....
The Kingdom of God is Love. Boundless, pure, blinding, humble,
glorious, excruciating Love.
And, ya know? You can even find it here on Earth now and then ;^)

| In seminary, a teacher made a very convincing argument
that the Kingdom of God is where the King is.

So where is the King? Where is Love? Where God is.
"Whenever two or more of you is gathered in His name, there is Love"
So, why all this "Love" business, anyway? There's a point here,
somewhere.

| Well... if it does refer to immortality... then perhaps the Taoist
concept of death being part of the double sided coin of existence is
true... they think the soul cycles in and out of the material world
and that death is just a stage of existence like puberty is a stage of
life.
Am I not supposed to be talking about that here?
Sorry if I offended anyone.

| It doesn't... that's where the immortal part comes in.. :-)
It's like the trees.. blooming in summer and seeming to die in winter..
only to bloom again when spring comes... in a never ending cycle... a
continuous pattern.

When you get off. :-)
I'm sorry, Mary, but I disagree. I understand that when the
commandments, Love God and Love your Neighbor, are finally
fulfilled there is no longer a need to be reborn. Rebirth,
separation, doesn't make sense when there are no longer two.
But in the mean time, what a dance!

| I understand where you're coming from, Tom.... but... well.... it seems
to me that this is the nature of reality... least... that's how it
seems to me...
I sometimes think that the journey is all there is... that there is no
destination... no stopping point... I mean... well... that's what I
mean, I guess.... (yikes... what am I doing here)

Exactly. Love of those around you, Love of the Almighty has no
destination... no stopping point. If you approach love as a means
to an end then it doesn't work. The Love just is. If you concentrate
on the destination Love can't happen because Love is Now. God is Now.
When the Love overwhelms you, when it is bigger than you, when
Love swallows you up and refuses to let go, you are InLove, InGod.
The concept of separation is no longer necessary. It just happens.
It just *looks* like there's a destination, a stopping point. I
guess our differences might just be semantics. If you're InLove,
InGod, how can there be an end?

What's anybody doing here? ;^)
