680.0. "Something or Someone Lovely" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (We will rise!) Thu May 20 1993 16:22

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever
things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever
things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if
[there be] any praise, think on these things.

What are some of the lovely things about your life?

Peace,
Richard

Makes me think of my hubby - he has all those attributes; despite
adversity he remains true, honest, just, pure of heart - he really is
a lovely human being. He has a childlike innocence enabling him to
see the good in everyone (which to me is what Jesus referred to when
he spoke of becoming as children to enter the kingdom of heaven).

Friends that are that just because you are and not who you
know. Recently a person showed that to me without resveration. What
a breath of fresh air in trying times. I'd name this person but it
    might embarrass her.

Recently I had to put my old dog-friend down because of his failing
health. My very lovely and thoughtful sister sent me a bereavement
card. I was really touched by her kindness and understanding.

I attended Friends Meeting (Quaker worship) last Sunday accompanied
by a woman I would describe simply as lovely, and her charming daughter.

The weather was not nearly as gracious as the company, I'm afraid.

Peace,
Richard

The beautiful spring weather that we have been having every weekend for
the last several weeks has just been awesomely lovely. It almost--and
I stress *almost*--makes up for last winter.

Naw, Mike, nothing will even *almost* make up for that dreadful
winter! Ugh, maybe it is finally over though! ;')

For my tastes and purposes, the only fault with last winter
is that it had me spoiled -- I know I won't see another
winter like that for a long time! The cross-country skiing
was just *perfect* for the longest time!

Agree with you too Bob. Loved the winter....best down hill and cross
    country skiing ever.

I saw a tee shirt once. "If you don't do the winter you haven't earned
the summer." I can live with a snowy winter if it means we get springs
like this one has been so far.

But we knew that already. :-)

Actually Mike I know what you need to do. You need a hot tub. That is
what gets me through the winter. The ideal situation is to set it up
where you can see outside (don't put it outside). What I do is turn off
the inside lights, turn on the outside lights, and watch the snow fall
will I soak in 104 degree warmth. Stay in long enough to get seriously
warm before bed. You'll feel warm all night and sleep well. Repeat as
    needed. :-)

This also works well as a cure for the cold and pains brought on by
    shoveling snow.

        It's that winter-bashing clique!

Alfred, that's good advice about not putting it outside. I once sat in
an outdoor hottub for an hour or so during the winter; the water heater
was not working real well, and when I came inside I was shivering
uncontrollably. I don't know what the symptoms of hypothermia are, but
that's what comes to mind in my case. It was only after taking a long
hot shower that I was finally able to stop shivering.

    getting back to the subject...

What's lovely to me is the excitement, trust and love on my beautiful
daughter's face when she greets me with "Guess what,
Mommy...<accomplishment or discovery of the day>".

It is so lovely to watch the joy with which she rediscovers the world I
tend to take for granted. A rainbow never looked so brilliant until I
saw one reflected in her eyes.
