And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the �children� of this world are in their generation wiser than the �children� of �light.� [Luke 16.8, KJV] This saying, which follows one of Jesus' parables, seems to suggest that good and righteous people, the children of light, are not terribly competent (or wise, if you prefer) when it comes to managing finances. I reckon the point is that wordly people are wiser in the ways of the world than the children of God. At least, that's how I've always understood it (and the people I've discussed it with have understood it). Collis |
