For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain. (Philippians 1:21 KJV) The first part of this verse has always fascinated me - "to me, to live is Christ" How thoroughly saturated in the Spirit the one who wrote this must have been to equate the experience of living with Christ! What thought(s) does "to live is Christ" evoke in you? Peace, Richard

This is an important verse to me. To me it means several things. First of these is that I am here because Christ wants me here. There are things He wants me to do. When He's finished with me He'll call me home but until then there are things to do. Second, it means that I am to be an extension of Him and His ministry. Jesus is alive in me. I am to let Him show in my life. Also since He is apart of me I am never alone. Alfred | |||||

I would agree that both Paul and Timothy were saturated in the Spirit. To me "to live is Christ" means absolute surrender. Here's a little devotional my friend gave me on Sunday. There is a moment of surrender and a process of surrender. The moment of surrender is the surrender of the will to personal belief in Jesus, that He is the crucified Savior who forgives sin. It is the moment of faith. It happens in an instant of time. The process of surrender is the lifelong, daily crucifying of the human will - the will of the flesh - over and over and over again. It is surrender and resurrender and re-resurrender. It is a "process" because we surrender our will at the foot of the cross, but then we take it back up again. Surrender is an art. A second sentence devotional would be: The turning point of our lives is when we stop seeking the God we want and start seeking the God who is. Jill |
