597.0. "Perspectives on cosmetic plastic surgery" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Celebrate Diversity) Thu Feb 04 1993 11:41
Cosmetic plastic surgery can have a profound effect on the quality of one's
life.
I'm not talking about reconstructive surgery where, after an accident,
there's an attempt to have someone's former features restored. I'm
talking about changing one's appearance from that which came about naturally.
What part does vanity play? Is cosmetic plastic surgery a good thing to do,
depending on the circumstances?
Peace,
Richard

It is if you're a woman and take the "before and after" ads in the
Sunday Boston Globe magazine seriously...
I think an important question to ask is: who benefits (financially and
otherwise?) by making potential candidates for cosmetic surgery feel
it's a good thing to do?
