| Hi Dave,
What comes to mind immediately is one of my favorite quotes by James
Baldwin:
"One can only face in others,
what one can face in oneself."
If it's (what we consider) a negative quality which we cannot face in
ourselves, then it gets projected outward upon another (many times
unconsciously) and we see it there and judge/condemn it. But yes, it
is the same as condemning ourselves, and then aren't *we* playing God?
Very best wishes in delivering your sermon. It may not be an easy
message for the congregation to hear, but it is an important one.
I know the Spirit will be with you and guide you!
peace,
Kb

| It seems like Paul is telling us (via his letter to the Roman believers)
that our job is not to judge, but to love.
And a difficult thing it is to do, too. Critical and analytical thinking
are so highly prized and rewarded in our society.
I was reading through some quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr., last night
with my son. MLK emphasized that intelligent, critical thinking simply
isn't enough, and further, that love is not simply some lofty ideal to
be held by utopian visionaries.
Peace,
Richard

| Hi Dave,
Difficult topic to tackle. I agree with Karen's thoughts; the
Jungarian view that judgement is based on our own shadow projections.
Best wishes to you on Sunday,

| RE: .0 Richard,
I just knew that somewhere Richard asked me how my
sermon went and now I cannot find it. Anyway, it went *VERY* well and
even had some tell me that it was my best. I feel good about it
because I really feel that Christians have a *LOT* to learn about love.
I will say that it was *THE* most difficult sermon I
have yet preached. It took more energy than I thought I had and that
coupled with this TFSO hitting *SO* close to home...I have been
drained.
Love,
Dave

| Dave,
Yeah, I did ask. But when I didn't get an answer after a few days
I decided that maybe I was being intrusive, so I deleted it.
I am glad that you were a succesful instrument of the Most High.
And may you be refreshed and restored with Living Waters.
Peace,
Richard

| RE: .5 & .6 Cindy & Richard....
Thank you Cindy! I feel good about it thought I wonder
If I really deserve the Halo. ;-)
No Richard, you were not being intrusive. This
"rightsizing" that DEC has been going through coupled with an increase
of work has kept me preoccupied....to the extent of "tunnel" vision so
I need to apologize for my lack of response.
