| I used to attend a church in Phoenix which was affiliated with the United
Pentecostal Church. It met in a school cafetorium on Sunday evenings. The
people were very friendly and cordial. The pastor could not live on the
support of the church alone. As I recall, he supported himself primarily
through some sort of sales job.
The services had an air of spontaneity I've encountered nowhere else.
There was a lot of congregational praising and praying "in tongues,"
some of which was highly emotionally charged.
Things were never still for very long. In fact, a vivid memory is one
of the piano playing through everything, including the sermon.
Peace,
Richard

| Also, see 20.4
It describes a "Holiness" church. Forgive me, but I don't know the
formal difference between "Holiness" and "Pentecostal," if any exist.
Peace,
Richard

374.3 | Several facts | 62465::JACKSON | The Word became flesh | Fri Dec 27 1991 09:46 | 12 |
| I just read something somewhere about the Oneness Church. I
don't remember where.
Anyway, the Oneness Church would be classified by Dr. Walter
Martin (of the Bible Answer Man) as a cult. It denies the
Trinity and baptizes in the name of Jesus alone. Baptism
(in a Oneness Church, I believe) is a requirement for
salvation. There are more vague thoughts going around in
my mind, but it's probably safer just to share what I'm sure
I remember.
