| The gospels record that Jesus made time to be alone and to get away from the
crowds he almost invariably attracted. Before initiating his ministry,
Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness without human contact. Before he
was turned over to the authorities, Jesus went to pray alone in the Garden
of Gethsemane.
Peace,
Richard

I think you've lead us to the answer!
Can we get too engrossed in solitude?
Well, in your statement above I noticed the word "Before he" precedes
each moment of solitude.

Just a "small" nit......
In the original language and usage,
"40" days usually meant a "long time".

| I read somewhere that you don't separate yourself from people to avoid
being with people. You separate yourself from them so you can learn to
live with them.

| THis year I am learning a lot about the difference between aloneness
and lonliness.
Aloneness is the time to think, to meditate, to read, to learn to have a
relationship with yourself.
Solitude, aloneness, both can be wonderful gifts.

| I agree wholeheartedly Pat. I've spent a lot of time in solitude over
the last five years. A healthier, more centered relationship with myself
and God has unfolded as a result. :-)
