333.0. "PLAYTOE'S LIGHT, PART IX: IS CHANTING CHRISTIAN?" by SWAM1::DOTHARD_ST (PLAYTOE) Tue Oct 29 1991 11:45
PLAYTOE'S LIGHT, PART IX: IS CHANTING A CHRISTIAN THING TO DO?
(I posted a letter in Blacknotes, topic 428, which mentioned I was
chanting and afterwards received a message to write a letter.)
One of the responses that I received when a person read my letter to
the Supreme Court (see topic BN 428), knowing that I call myself a
Christian, was "To which GOD do you chant?" The person asked me this
to try and convict me of serving "another" god. The question stumped
me initially, I could not quickly respond to it. I had never been
asked that question before...I guess because I've only recently (ie
since reading Metu Neter) gotten into chanting. I was stumped because
her question conjured up in my mind as well my preconceived notions of
chanting which like her's thought it to be "chanting to a god/God" of
some name.
However, after I thought about it, I realized that the above question
is not an accurate one...I'd like to share my response to the question,
for it might be of some benefit to others.
The Metu Neter, firstly, does not advocate a "name" for God, nor does
it ask you to chant TO God. Instead, which is somewhat eluded to by
Kedar in 435.2 (I believe), it advocates that we do as the Creator did
to make manifest or to bring into manifestation that which is our Will
to create. In other words, as God first conceived or Willed that such
and such a thing be he then "spoke a word" and "things stood fast" or
took form and became real. Let me explain further:
In Scripture it says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth and the earth was WITHOUT FORM AND VOID". OK.
In Metu Neter, it doesn't question the reality of God, whom it refers
to as NETER, but affirms God by going on to examine and elaborate the
process by which operation of Creation being made manifest took place.
This process does not "contradict" the Bible, the Bible doesn't
elaborate on this "mystery".
Now, from this verse Genesis 1:1-2 we perceive that in the beginning
before anything was "formed" or "earth/matter was formed" all that was
there in the universe was, as described in Metu Neter,
"undifferentiated Energy(heaven)/Matter(Earth)". Now can you agree,
that if we try to visualize the state/condition of the universe after
Genesis 1:1-2 (only), that all we would see is a vast sea of particles
some energetic (positive/heaven) and some material/matter
(negative/earth).
The problem with some accepting this is based upon the preconceived
notion that "heaven" is some invisible undetectable essence, and not
necessarily "positive energy"...but if within Man is a positron seed of
spiritual energy, such that we consider "heaven to be within us", with
further study on that you'll soon be able to agree with the
correspondence of "heaven" with "positive force/energy".
But that's neither here nor there, for already we have moved past the
question of "God" and are already into the reality of manifest life!
Ok, from here, the Metu Neter, says that at the creation of this
"heaven and earth" as it came forth, from it emanated a "sound" which
was "NG or "NK" (ie G and K are interchangeable grammatically, consider
Gnaw and Know, note the G and K do the same thing to the word.)
Now, taken from Metu Neter is says, regarding the First Manifestation:
"The very first differentiation of energy/matter which in the
Subjective* Realm subsists as a homogeneous and undifferentiated
vibration-"ng(k)"-is carried out by NETER's projection of the sound AU
into it...thus AUNG"
Note that there is no difference between the phrase "And God said" and
"Neter's projection of the sound". We can argue that "well the Bible
says that God said [exactly] "LET THERE BE LIGHT" but that would be in
the English language, wouldn't it! So who can argue that God FOR SURE
didn't say "AU"? NOONE CAN! And if they try, I advise you to stand
back from that person, you've come upon one of those Christians who
take the Bible too literally!
Metu Neter says that the First Manifestation from the undifferentiated
Energy/Matter was the "Consciousness", or that the Supreme Being become
Conscious of the fact that it was Conscious...can you relate to this?
This is AUSAR or the SELF. Chanting AUNG AUSAR therefore evokes from
within you YOUR SELF as it was originally created by God, that original
Spirit Seed, same eternal seed that was there "in the beginning".
Ok, and I won't go to much further, I'll briefly cover the first three
manifestations, which will at least you a good idea of what's
happening.
The Second Manifestation from the UE/M was the "WILL", as God/Neter
became "Conscious of being Conscious" in the realization of presence
and power, began to WILL or conceive of things. METU NETER emphasizes
the idea that WILL has no POWER, but is merely the seeds of potential
reality, "I WILL do so and so" merely expresses a desire not a
reality...it explains this very clearly, for those who wish to debate
this. Anyway this Second Manifestation came forth at Neter's
projection of the sound HU into NG and thus HUNG. Chanting AUNG AUSAR
HUNG, therefore, has to do with cultivating our WILL or desires and
aligns our WILL with that of the Universal whole.
The Third Manifestation from the UE/M was the "POWER" to make manifest
that which is WILLED, it represents the 50 SOUNDS of POWER, the 50 OARS
on AUSAR's Boat, the 50 Sculls on the necklace [of some Greek goddess,
I forget], etc. I also believe in Islam they teach something about "50
levels of Light" and that Jesus had attained 49, or something like
this. Anyway, it was by the projection of these 50 sounds, singly and
in various combinations that all things are made manifest. Our
alphabet consists of 22 of those sounds. The Third Manifestation came
forth at Neter's projection of the sound KRI into NG and thus KRING.
Chanting AUNG KRING (which I was doing the night I received the
message), cultivates the SELF POWER to manifest that which is WILLED.
I have given brief explanations, but the intent was to show you that
Chanting the Metu Neter way does not contradict Christian doctrine,
theoretically or philosophically or in practice. We know that there
were "mysteries" that Jesus revealed to his Disciples which are not in
the Bible.
Any comments?
