303.0. "sIn" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Watch your peace & cues) Wed Sep 04 1991 18:43

Long ago, a friend of mine advocated spelling 'sin' with a capital 'I'
in the middle:

				sIn

Thoughts?

	Actually not a bad idea. It would help remind us to look the the
	beam in our own eyes before the sliver in that of others.

    ...probably comes from the sometimes-prevalent idea that pride is the
    "original" sin and/or the foundation of all other sins.

             I had always understood that "sIn" meant "I sin" and was/is
    used by Christians as a shorthand and even a bumper sticker.

303.6Allowing the ego to become the centerCSC32::J_CHRISTIEWatch your peace & cuesFri Sep 06 1991 18:028
To me, sIn is allowing the ego to become the center of one's life.

There's a dynamic tension here, in that I believe that one must possess
some measure of self-esteem. And at the same time I believe a life which
seeks only self-fulfillment will most likely never find it.

Peace,
Richard
