| Note 4.127
> Dear Richard:
> I am brand new to the conferences and have been with DEC for 4 years.
Dear Jack Martin,
Welcome to C-P, Jack!
> I think it would be a real blessing to all the readers if you wrote a
> short testimony of how you found Jesus Christ as your savior?
Judging by your phraseology, I sense that what I would have to say
would be so foreign to your way of understanding and way of looking at things
that you would reject it out of hand.
I find it curious that you asked no one else. I suspect you have a
problem with me.
> Actually, since this conference has the word Christian in it, I am
> testing the spirits as commanded in the book of Deuteronomy. I'd love
> to hear how you got saved.
The letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. While I consider
Levitical law worthy of study, I am personally not bound by it, but instead,
set free by the liberating power of our Sovereign and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I assure you that whether you find my personal salvation "legitimate"
or not ultimately has no bearing on this conference.
Peace,
Richard

I feel its time I offer my testimony. I asked Jesus into
my life while I was in the Navy aboard the USS. Mt. Whitney during the
Arab Isreali war in September of 1972. Without any doubt, Jesus came into
my life and gave me a love that I had never felt before in my life. Some
have asked me why I can forgive so much and my answer is because I have
been forgiven *SO* much. Love is much the same.
I know that sometimes I exhibit an intolerance toward
some Christians. Its a failing of mine but I have to believe that Christ
can work the miracles within each life. Many call me a "liberal"
Christian...nothing could be farther from the truth. Its just that I
believe that many of the ills of our society are symptoms rather than
problems. I feel that Christians are called to "love" people to Christ
rather than scaring them out of hell. You see, when Jesus came into my life
He showed me a better way to live. I no longer have to judge others. My
main responsibility is to get people to the cross and the Holy Spirit
will change that life. I believe that God "gives abundantly beyond
all that we can ask or even think". While I was preaching one sunday
morning, this statement came to me and I have tried to live by it every
since...."If you are not willing to give your salvation away, you are not
worthy to have it".
