138.0. "Spiritual fruit" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Say your peace) Thu Dec 20 1990 19:53

Which fruit of the Spirit do you need most right now in your life?

(love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,
 tolerence, self-control) Gal 5:22

Why settle for less than all?

If you have the Spirit, you have them all.

Re. 2

Ace,

The point is not whether you have the fruits or not, but which
one could you use more of right now. For example, I am a patient man,
but I could probably stand to have a little more patience with you about
your entry. ;-)

Peace,
Richard

	I know what you meant.

If you are in fellowship with the Spirit, you have all those fruits
*spontaneously*. The way to get the "fruit" (that is the manifestation of
the Divine Life within) is to be in communion with the Life. Like a grape
branch that doesn't bear fruit, the branch only needs to do one thing. That
is stay connected to the vine. That was my point.

have a nice one,

I think that this is proving to be a berry fruitful discussion, but
perhaps we need to get to the "core" of the matter. If one is an
in-cider to the ways of the Spirit, it might seem ap-pear-ant that one
can e-lemon-ate many spiritual ills if one merely gr-apples with them
appropriately. But this view may lack some ap-peal.

Let's see right now I could probably use a little Love, Joy,
Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generousity, Faithfulness, Tolerence and
    some Self-Control.

But maybe mostly Kindness, Faithfulness, Tolerence and
    Self-Control.

    Patience - with my spouse.

Tolerence - of my teenager and her current love interest.

Self-control - to put my brain in gear before putting my mouth in
    motion. ;-}

    Richard

PS I certainly wouldn't reject more love and joy!
