        I must admit that I am offering to host this conference on my
        workstation with a bit of fear and trembling.  I note that
        other conferences on Christianity and related topics (e.g.,
        the Bible) have found it necessary to establish rigid
        guidelines about acceptable and unacceptable forms of
        discussion, topics of discussion, and sources of spiritual
        information.

        I do not want this conference to become a Soapbox, either in
        the sense of the infamous notes conference or in the sense of
        a platform for one-way communication.

        If the discussions become nasty, or if the general topics
        stray too far from a "reasonable" definition of "Christian",
        or if excessive moderation activity becomes necessary, then
        I, as manager of the system on which it resides, will
        probably just shut it down.

        I don't like sounding so heavy-handed, but I must remind you
        that this isn't my job and that this isn't the purpose for
        which the host system is maintained.  If things get
        unreasonable, this system and I are out of here.

	A significant part of my "fear and trembling" is my conviction that a moderator cannot impartially moderate a conversation in which she or he is taking part. Yet I could hardly expect the other moderators or myself to stay out of the conversations here. I sure hope that we don't get into a controversial exchange in which all the moderators have taken part! Bob

	I'm changing jobs (within the company) and taking LGP30 with me. By the end of this week (or early next week if there are delays) LGP30 will be moving north to Littleton, MA (TAY1). This will mean a new network address. LGP30 and CHRISTIAN-PERSPECTIVE will be off the air starting Friday the 28th and continuing at least through that day (and possibly the weekend). When we come back we'll still be "LGP30" but the DECnet address (and the IP address) will have changed and it may take a while for your name lookup tables to be correct once more. Bob
