I have never been to Disney World. I have been to Disneyland back in
    1965, I know I am dating myself.

We are planning a trip in February 1997. Can anyone recommend the
better week to travel. My husband has a thing, either January or
February. I know school vacations usually fall in February.

I would like some advise from the seasoned travelers out there.

    Thanks in advance.

504.1All of Jan and Feb to vac week is goodCONSLT::OWENStop Global WhiningThu May 09 1996 17:2416
My wife and I went this past January right near the end of the month.
There was NO ONE around. You could just walk right onto anything in
any park. Longest I waited was about 15 minutes for the Tower of
    Terror.

The problem is that it CAN get cold in Florida that time of year. Of
the 6 days we were there, 4 were beautiful (upper 70's, maybe hitting
80), 1 was a bit cooler and rainy, the last day was sunny but COLD (I
don't think it made it out of the 40's, but apparently that was a rare
    thing).

I'd avoid February vacation weeks. Too crowded to relax and enjoy
    yourself.

I agree completely. I usually go the last week in Jan and sometimes extend
to the first week in Feb. Both are REAL dead!

Feb's a nice time. We do not like it hot so the weather is perfect for
us. Yes, do bring a sweater for nights.

I'm going the last two weeks of Feb. DON'T be afraid of crowds!
If you 'walk right on aa attraction', you'll miss 80% of it.
Disny puts out more when there are more crowds.

Make your reservations TODAY. This is going to be a busy year with
the 25th anniversary. STAY ON PROPTERY. It is just as cheap and more
    fun than off property.

Also see note 30, the topic for first-timers to WDW. Lots (and I mean
LOTS :-) ) of good info there. There are also topics on when to go,
where to stay, what to see, etc. etc. Use various combinations of
DIR/TITLE=somethingyouwantolookup (or the equivalent in whatever Notes
client you use if it's not the character cell interface) and you'll
turn up plenty of info!

We usually go the last week in January or first week in February. It can get
cool but we have had really nice weather in the past - not too hot not too cool.
Just right for porridge and walking around the parks. And, the parks are not
crowded. Also, these are generally annual passport special weeks. With an
annual passport you could get an on-site room for almost price which more than
pays for the passport.

For planning it may help to know the school vacation weeks:

The Massachusetts School vacation is Feb 15 - 22
        New Hampshire Feb 22 - Mar 1
