470.0. "Hours of Daylight" by CGOOA::BCLARKE () Wed Jul 12 1995 14:18

This may sound like a very stupid questions but,

My wife and I are planning our first trip to Disneyworld either this
winter or next summer. One of my concerns, Is there a difference in the
number of hours of daylight in January as opposed to July or August.
Here in Calgary we may only get 8-9 hours of daylight, as opposed to
14-15 hours we get in June or July.

I am just looking to make maximum use of my time there !!

    Thanks
    Brian

Yes, there will be fewer hours of daylight in January than in July. But,
being closer to the equator, the difference won't be as severe as it is for
you in Calgary. It's just a guess, but I think there's probably 12-13 hours
of daylight in January, and 15-16 hours in July.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it. DisneyWorld in the dark
is just as pretty (if not prettier) than DisneyWorld in daylight. :-)

But in the winter, the parks are usually not open much after dark
    (World Showcase being the exception).

I was at WDW last January...I remember that EPCOT got dark just a short
while before IllumiNations, which was at 9:00pm. I don't think it got
dark significantly earlier than 9...maybe 8-8:30.

Summer daylight (at least in July) runs about 14 hours. I can remember
doing a morning run at 6 A.M. and it was dark enough to need
headlights whereas the sun is already shining in the Northeast by 6
    A.M.

re: .3 Wow! I guess I had too many martoonies. I was in Florida
thru this past January 2nd, and it was dark around 6PM. Are you
sure the "9" you wrote wasn't upside down?

p.s. 9PM is the summer sunset....
