    I spoke to an email pal at Imagineering the other week. Indiana Jones
    will be a ride, with a long walk-through area (the queing area is open
    now, and I plan on checking that part of it out this Friday). It is
    supposed to have some major effects in it. Will share more info as it
    becomes available.

424.2Same as EuroDisney??NEWOA::GATHERNMon Aug 15 1994 09:074
    I guess, although I might be wrong, that it will be the same as the
    Indiana Jones Temple of Doom ride at EuroDisney.

424.4First hand experienceJUMP4::JOYPerception is realityMon Mar 13 1995 14:3351
    I just visted DL last Thursday and was fortunate enough to ride on the
    Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride (before it broke
    down for the day).

    My first impression is to take those warnings about not riding the ride
    if you have a bad back. I generally ignore the warnings because my back
    isn't that bad, but I was hurting when I came out of this ride.

    There is quite a long queuing area inside the temple before the ride
    starts. Probably the longest of any of the rides at DL. There is a lot
    of detail on the walls and as you go thru, but since we got there first
    thing in the morning on a Thursday, we pretty much walked right through
    it to the ride itself and missed a lot of the detail. You get into a
    12(?) person "jeep" type of container, 4 per row and off you go. The
    part that's bad on the back is when you go over the "rocks" in the road
    (lots of bumping from side to side) and some of the sharp turns and
    drops. I had a hard time reaching any handhold as I was seated at the
    "steering wheel" and being relatively short (5'4") I had to lean
    forward to reach a handhold. You have seatbelts, similar to Star Tours,
    but they don't hold you that well.

    There are some good effects, especially going over the molten river and
    avoiding the giant "boulder" from rolling over you. Most of the scenes
    are from the IJ movies themselves, with a hologram looking something
    like Harrison Ford showing up now and then to help "guide" you through
    the Temple. I liked the effects of the spiders even though they were
    probably the most simplistic. The ride lasts probably 3 minutes,
    although it seems longer. I can't remember a lot of the details because
    so much was happening at once and I was hanging on for my life!

    We did come to an unplanned stop 3/4 of the way through the ride, but
    it restarted ok. Apparently there are still some bugs in the systems
    and it seems to break down at least once a day. We tried to ride again
    later in the afternoon but it was closed for at least 3 hours so we
    gave up.

    Once side note - the Jungle Cruise has been modified slightly to
    incorporate the IJ ride, mostly in the queuing area and when you go by
    the Temple at the beginning of the ride. (This was probably done awhile
    ago but I haven't been to DL in several years).

    There is an art exhibit going on in the gallery above the Pirates of
    the Carribean ride which has some original drawings for the plans of
    the IJ ride and also some older artwork for DL itself and Euro-Disney.
    It was pretty interesting to see how things have changed.

    My advice, go first thing in the morning before the lines get too long
    and the systems break down.

424.5Disney may claim otherwise, but we know betterCSC32::B_GRUBBSMon Mar 13 1995 16:128

    I read somewhere that you will not see Disney referring to the
    cars on the DL Indiana Jones ride as 'jeeps' since this is a registered
    trademark of Chrysler. Everbody knows it's a jeep though....

424.6Jeep/Hummer hybridJUMP4::JOYPerception is realityWed Mar 15 1995 13:556
    re: .-1 It actually looks like a hybrid between a Jeep and a Hummer!.

    (Never saw a Jeep that would seat 12!)
