373.0. "Hotel Cheyenne at Eurodisney??" by NEWOA::GATHERN () Thu Oct 14 1993 08:11

Having made use of the " Kids Go Free " offer, here in the UK, when you
purchase a copy of the Beauty and the Beast video, I have booked a 4
day/3 nights package at the Hotel Cheyenne at Eurodisney for March'94.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel, if so, what is it like?
Will there be any parades, etc , at this time of year?.

With our " Kids Go Free " special voucher, the package we have booked
    includes:-

Free return flights for the kids (Air France LHR-CDG)
    Free accomodation
Free entrance for the duration of your stay	(Adults as well)

373.1A NICE FAMILY HOTEL BIS6::POLLETFri Dec 03 1993 08:0124

    Hi Dave ,

I stayed at Hotel Cheyenne last summer . The hotel accomodation has all
the comfort one normally need (bathroom,minibar,toilet,T.V. with Disney
channel,radio...) . The hotel is rather surprising . Upon arrival , the
only thing we saw from the outside was a cowboy town with all small
houses . But this is only the outside ,once you're on the inside you'll
find a normal hotel structure . The hotel has 2 floors but there is NO
elevator . In the center of the town you have the Lobby (check-in and
out) and the Saloon were you can have breakfast and dinner . I didn't
see any parades (we were allday in the Theme Park were you do have
    parades ).
The Disney Theme Park Main entrance is in walking distance from the hotel
    (about 15 minutes) .
Conclusion : The hotel is a nice family hotel , ideal for families with
kids . It offers all the comfort needed for your stay at the resort .
Anyway we only used the hotel for sleeping reasons . We went to the
theme park early in the morning and came back in the late evening .

David,

I tried to call you today as i've just got back from EuroDisney and it was fun.

Good News :

The roads in France beat the living daylights of the UK. I drove
for 400miles from Calais and back without delay, minor traffic and
no cones. In UK I was stuck on the M25 for 2 1/2 hours and nearly
missed the Ferry.

Bad News :

EuroDisney was not signposted until 5km from the resort.

Good News :

The Hotel Cheyanne is first class . Little boys will love the Wild West
themes and surroundings. Eating is a bit like school/cookhouse/students
union in the hotel. Fried chicken, Ribs , Sweet corn and BEANSSSSSsssss!

Bad News ;:

Expensive.(# = UKpounds) They have recently licensed some restaurants but paying
#14 or#17
a bottle for wine in France is ridiculous. Beer was #3 a glass and coke was
#1.50 which if you have a couple a kids can run up a bill.

Checking In at the Hotel was a nightmare twice. First because there is a queue.
Whilst this may be culturally acceptable to Anglo-Saxons to other Europeans
it's an excuse to flex their percieved superiority. I noticed that the French
love to shrug their shoulders and push past despite complaints from other
people. Secondly, we couldn't get the room key until after 3.00pm and so
had to queue again.

Bad News :

There is no friendly atmosphere. No one said 'have a nice day' or 'enjoy your
meal'. It was not a fun place.

Everything in the Disney shops is expensive compared to London and exorbitant
compared to Florida.

The park itself was excellent but Disney characters were almost non-existent
unless you pay #17 for a celebrity braekfast.

It was only open from 10-1800 weekdays, 10-2000 on Saturdays and soon Sundays.
Compare this with the Florida times.

Summary :

EuroDisney will fail not because of the money and infrastructure that's been
invested but IMO

1. Northern France is too cold and wet compared to Spain or Florida
2. The weather/climate restricts the opening hours
3. Too close to Paris and even so is not well signposted
4. Workforce are Parisians/Morrocans/Algerians with no customer/service
   mentality
4.5 It has no sense of FUN
5. All the characters are in French not English
6. All the food, entertainment, drink, snacks are still very expensive
7. The goods for sale are not value for money
8. The parades are only 50% of US versions
9. Not enough Disney characters around (3/4 per day is inadequate)
