360.1 | MY .2 CENTS | STUDIO::NDYER | | Fri Aug 27 1993 17:40 | 30 |
| Information I was wanted to know was:
1. Prices for everything so I would know what to expect
i,e. average price for car rental, room outside and on property
2. Trip reports for this year. ...what is closed, worst lines
are..etc
3. Referrals of evening babysitters on the property that were
used and how much?
4. When to book plane, train, hotel, tickets (buy now or there?)
car rental. In other words, the appropriate planning guide
without having to read all of Barnum's book..
5. What to expect weatherwise each month of the year.
6. How many rides to expect to get on in one day.
average I mean...
7. Last but no least, a topic on bad experiences with any of the
above bookings like the horror stories I read on car rentals...
these tend to be very helpful so I know what not to do etc.
Hope this has helped
and what you wanted for your survey.

360.2 | The questions is????? | QETOO::TELIAN | | Mon Aug 30 1993 09:59 | 26 |

Info I would like to have available:
1) Admission plans and their costs, advantages and disadvantages.
2) Accommodations on and off property, cost, type of rooms, features
that are included.
3) Things to see and do, as well as when to see them and do them.
4) Trip reports
5) Vacation Packages versus separate arrangements, advantages and
disadvantages....
Bonus: The First-Timers Questions are great for information.
2nd Bonus: If a quarterly price list for accommodations and admissions
could be published it would save a lot of searching as well
as questions. Weather info is important too.
That's it for me,
Thanks Mike,
Alan

360.3 | More specific prices | SHIPS::OTTEN_P | | Wed Sep 01 1993 05:27 | 10 |
| I would like to have more specific prices instead of comments like
"very expensive". I was trying to figure how much money to plan to
spend on meals, such as one of the dinner shows and all the comments
say expensive, but what is expensive to someone may not be to me as I
can easily spend $12.00 for two people to eat at Burger King here in
the UK.

360.4 | What I Need(ed) To Know | CHEFS::FREEMAN | Gary Freeman | Wed Sep 01 1993 07:45 | 48 |
| I read most of the conference before our first trip to WDW in '90, and
my biggest frustration was that much of the info was out of date and
superseded later in the conference. So I guess my first request is for
this conference to be archieved, and a new one be created. The next
four things I'd want to see are:-
1. Quantative information:-
.1 Current Prices (mortals and Digital 'club' members) and what you
get - e.g. with 7-day pass by planning ahead you could get
"extra" days at "minor" attractions such as Typhoon Lagoon.
.2 Process to get club card and discount vouchers - btw despite
occasional grips I've read in the notes, each time I've applied
for a card the system has worked fine.
.3 Weather conditions each month: temp, rainfall, sunshine, etc
.4 Summary (possibly straight from Disney handouts) of each
atttraction at WDW, Epcot, and MGM
.5 Calendar of US vacation trends. E.g. from here in the UK I have no
idea when US schools break for summer (and hence Disney will be
busier?). There are bound to be other factors that influence
attendance figures - what are they, and when do they happen?
.6 A timetable. E.g. when do the parades take place? what time is
the EPCOT firework display? etc
2. Attraction-specific information (1 note on each?):-
.1 Typical queue size relative to other attrations (e.g Short, Avg,
Long, Take "War & Peace" to read while waiting). Actual lengths
will vary throughout the year but I guess the relative popularity
remains the same.
.2 Suitability for kids. I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old, and
some of the best advice I got from the conference was other people's
experience of taking kids of similar ages.
3. Eating at Disney
.1 The options
.2 How to book at EPCOT
.3 Popularity - e.g. which places need booking in advance
.4 Actual prices
4. Non-Disney Attractions
We've been to Florida twice, and on neither trip did we spend more
than 4 days (out of 14) at Disney - there's just so much else
available. I think a note on each other place would be useful. To
start the balling rolling, I suggest, Sea World, Cypress Gardens,
Busch Gardens, Silver Springs, and Naples are "musts" and could add
loads of others.
That's it!

360.5 | | BUSY::TBUTLER | Carpenter Diem - 'Sieze The Tools' | Wed Sep 01 1993 10:29 | 10 |
| Gary,
This being a notesfile isn't structured to be a reference document.
I would suggest that the best way to get the information that you need,
and I agree that everything you've listed is good to know, is to buy
either Steve Birnbaum's guide to WDW and/or the Unofficial Guide to
WDW. These two books will give you the answers to every question
you've posed.

360.6 | | NAPIER::HAGEN | Please send truffles! | Wed Sep 08 1993 08:31 | 23 |
| When I first started reading this conference, the things I was most interested
in knowing were:
1. What all the abbreviations stand for (TTC, TL, BOG, CBR, EC, ... some were
obvious but some weren't)
2. A list of on-site accomodations price ranges, and brief description including
location or nearest park (I got that from a price note I think, and I had
no idea that WDW had so many different on-site hotels.)
3. A list of all the different admissions option, what they include, and current
price. It took awhile to sort out the differences between the multi-day
passes vs. super pass vs. super duper pass vs. BOG pass. There is a recent
note that summarizes these nicely, now.
4. On-site restaurant info. Where to eat and where NOT to eat. Rate the
meal AND the entertainment and/or atmosphere separately. A description
of the menu, including selection and prices would be helpful. (i.e. don't
just say this restaurant is fantastic, because I do not like seafood and if
that is mainly what's on the menu, then it won't be fantastic to me.)
5. Hints for first timers. i.e. 1)pick the left line 2)buy a cheap cooler so
you can have breakfast in your room to save time 3)skip Mission to Mars ...

360.7 | | STAR::FERLAN | DECamds: FIX your OpenVMS problems | Wed Sep 08 1993 09:51 | 27 |
|
1. Using packages vs. doing it yourself... Also ease of staying onsite
rather than offsite... Best places to stay for the value.
2. What to avoid... what to make sure you see and do... I already knew
about 20,000 leagues... It's the one ride I remember going on and
pretty much disliking...
3. Things to do "away" from Disney for a day...
4. Other peoples experiences... Especially younger children... You
know the kids are overly excited and "just want to have fun"...
how to guage the time so that the kids are rested enough to
have fun every day.
5. General information about different attractions... best times to
go, etc... I figure this notesfile is like reading Birmbaum's
(somewhat)... I find that Digital notesfiles are worth more
that buying some book on a place, mainly because there's more
information about "real-life" experiences than what someone wants
to "feed" you in a book.
....
6. Mike Scopa's trivia ;-)

360.8 | | PHDVAX::JMCGLINCHEY | | Wed Sep 08 1993 14:17 | 7 |
| I'm primarily interested in the information that is different from the
genericized info that is in the guide books from either disney or the
commercial books. Also, futures information about what is happening
and going to happen soon. It's interesting to read the old notes in
this conf. before and after some of the new attraction openings.

360.9 | | IMTDEV::GULLIKSEN | Longing to be at WDW | Wed Sep 08 1993 15:06 | 7 |
| When I first started reading the conference, I was planning my 6th trip to WDW.
I was primarily interested in knowing what was currently happening so my trip
would be better planned.
I like getting insider tips, trivia, etc. - (I miss Jim Hill's contributions).
I'd like to see more data about the other Disney Parks.
