329.0. "Pets at WDW" by CSC32::J_OPPELT (Well, WE emptied our penny jar!) Sun Nov 22 1992 15:01

    	We are planning to take a long vacation this summer, and part
    	of it will be spent at WDW in Fla. We are considering taking
    	our dog (golden retriever) and can accommodate her needs on
    	all the other parts of our vacation, but we're not sure if we
    	can adequately accommodate her at WDW. If we can't, she stays
    	home for the entire vacation.

    	What kind of facilities are there in/around WDW to take care
    	of our dog while we are there?

329.1Your Choice of Four KennelsLJOHUB::GOLDBERGLen; I Own a Piece of the MagicSun Nov 22 1992 20:509
    Your pet can stay in one of four WDW kennels. One located at each of
    the major theme parks, and one at Ft. Wilderness. I believe that only
    resort guests are allowed to leave pets overnight, and this might be
    only at the Ft. Wilderness kennel. Pets are not allowed in the parks
    or resorts.

    I'm not sure what the prices are, but you can call WDW information to
    find out. I do know that a member of the pet's family must visit every
    day for a walk or whatever.
329.2Something that I found out last week that I found interesting.ROWING::FEENANJay Feenan Rdb/xxx EngineeringTue Nov 24 1992 13:147
    One interesting point that I found out is that most of these places
    (I know Sea World has kennel facilities too) have these because Florida
    state law prohibits animals from being left unattended. This tidbit
    was from the cast member on the tram from the MGM parking lot...with a
    final word of saying You will be fined....

    If you find that you on't want to accomodate the dog at the WDW
    facilities, but that you can for the rest of your trip, have you
    looked into boarding kennels in the Orlando area? You might want to
    take your dog with you and just board it only for the time you are at WDW.
    MIght work better than boarding for the whole length of your vacation.
    Maybe the Orlando Chamber of Commerce or somthing would know of some
    good kennel choices.
