303.0. "HELP NEEDED - URGENT!!!!" by VAXSPO::SARITA () Wed Mar 18 1992 09:44

    Hi guys,

    My name is Sarita and I work for Digital in Brazil.

    Reading this onference, it seems I'm the only South American
    Disneyhoolic in our company!!!!! (I know Florida is about 12 hours by
    plane from Brazil, but I don't think this is a good excuse. Disney is
    worthwile don't you agree?).

    Anyway all this distance makes things more difficult for us 3rd. world
    people....

    In that sense, I would like you to make me a favor, if possible.

    I'm planing to go to Orlando next month, from April 17 to April 25 and
    I would love to stay insyde the Disney area (it's my 6th time to Disney
    and always stayed at International drive area.).
    I called Disney's reservation number last sunday and they told me they
    are almost completelly booked for this period and the only room
    availabe would be at the Swan for Us$350 per night.This is too much for
    our poor cruzeiro (our currency)...

    Lately, reading this conference, I noticed that some times they have
    special offers for those guys who have the anual passport. I have my
    annual passport but it expired last february and the only way I can
    renew it is going to US (we don't get post services as you do).

    I would like to call them back to know if they could get me any other
    choice for this period ( in any of the hotels) with a more resonable
    price, but a phone call from here in Brazil to the US is really very
    expensive and I just made one this week.

    What I would like to ask you is if one of you can make the phone call
    for me just to make all the possible questions on what I can get for
    this period, as you have a toll-free 1-800 number that we can not reach
    in international phone calls.

    In that sense , I would just call them when I had all the datas and
    then could confirm the reservation.

    My full name is : Sarita Helena Schwartzmann
    My Disney anual passport numbr is : 27020747
    I'm going with my husband and two kids (6 and 3 years old) and want to
    stay all in the same room.

    Hope you read this note in time and for any of you who will help me
    thank you very much in advance. If one day they open a Brazilian
    Disney, I promisse I'll do my best to help you all.

    Unfortunately, the dates you mention coincide with the spring school
    vacations. It is just about impossible to find a room anywhere near
    Disneyworld on such short notice. I don't know how airlines are from
    Brazil but I do know that it is impossible now to get a reserved seat
    from the Norteast, in or out of Florida for those dates.

303.2How about outside the park?FPTVX1::ABRAMSCause I may be...Thu Mar 19 1992 08:1913
Sarita, if you need help finding a place to stay outside the park,
send me a note by e-mail and I'll try to help. I have a book with
many hotels and rates and I could call a few to see if they have a room.

I'm afraid Phil is right about hotels inside the park...it's one of the
busiest times of the year for them.

303.3I didn't now about spring vacations!VAXSPO::SARITAThu Mar 19 1992 12:2822
    Hi guys,

    Thank you for the help. I had no idea about that spring vacations you
    have during this period. Here we have just 3 days (easter hollidays on
    friday, saturday and sunday) and thats all.

    Concerning air tickets I'll have no problems as I have already my
    reservatios. We have now special offers to flight to Miami/Orlando. It
    will cost me Us$ 640 per person round trip when usually it is about Us$
    1,200 per person . The company I'll flight is a Brazilian company
    called "Transbrasil".

    I send a mail to Bill accepting his kind offer to help me with some
    hotels outside Disney. It will not be so bad as I always stayed outside.
    (And in that way I already have a reason to come back to Disney next
    time).

    If you have any other hint, please write here in this note.

    Thanks again.

           Sarita.
303.4Keep on tryingAIMHI::TLAPOINTEThu Mar 19 1992 12:487
    Sarita, I called WDW yesterday and was told I could reserve 5 nights
    at the Y&B club for that week only $215 + tax/-MKC.

    So try again, maybe someone cancelled and you'll get lucky.

303.5Try the Marriott on I-DriveMRKTNG::ITS4U::KUSEKOSKIMaintain imperturbable equanimityWed Mar 25 1992 08:286
    We recently stayed at the Marriott on International Drive for $99 per
    night. It's about a 15 minute drive to WDW; they may even run a
    shuttle, I forget. I highly recommend this place if you cannot stay in
    the park.

303.6Keep tryingCIVIC::GIBSONThu Mar 26 1992 13:5614
    Sarita,

    Do not give up hope yet! You might still be able to stay on property.

    There was a small chance that we would have to go to Florida for
    April 11, so of course I called the CRO last night to see about a
    last minute reservation to extend the trip. They were able to find
    three nights at CBR (4/11-4/13), someone else's last minute cancellation.
    Unfortunately, our trip fell through so I will be cancelling mine,
    but someone else will have the chance to get a room at the last minute.

    Keep trying.

303.7Thank youVAXSPO::SARITAMon Mar 30 1992 07:3913
    With the help of Bill Abrams I finally have my reservation confirmed at
    the Radison Resort at the Intl. Drive where We'll stay for Us$ 45 per
    night.

    I want to say thanks to all of you who kindelly helped me.

    Now there are just 3 weeks before I go and it makes me very happy.

    As soon as I come back I'll make a report of my trip to all of you.

    Thanks again,

    Sarita.
303.8help needed againVAXSPO::SARITATue Aug 11 1992 16:1427
    Here I am again.

    As you can read in mail previus notes, last time I went to Disney I
    tried hardelly to stay in any of the Disney's resort but at the end it
    wasn't possible as they were all full.

    So, now I'm planning to go next January and, as this time I would like
    to stay inside the propoerty, I begun to plan my trip earlier.

    In that way, I will ask your kind help again. As I told you before,
    here in Brazil we can't get the reservations at Disney easylly . So if
    some of you colud just call the 1-800 number at reservation and check
    for me wich hotels have rooms available for the period between January
    26 and February 5 would be great.

    We will need a room with two double beds, to acomodate two adults and
    two children (7 and 4 years old).

    Also I would like to know the price for them.The 4 of us are anual passports
    holders, so maybe they have a special price for this period.

    I was also told that as a DEC employee, I could get special rates at
    Disney. Is that true?

    Thank you very much again,

    Sarita
303.9Try this!VISUAL::SCOPAI'd rather be in OrlandoWed Aug 12 1992 12:259
    Sarita,

    I think you could make one phone call and get everything settled. Can
    you use the 1-800-MICKEY-1 (TOLL FREE) number from Brazil (one of my
    favorite countries)? Use that number to get the info and/or book at the
    same time.

303.10No 1-800 numbersVAXSPO::SARITAMon Aug 24 1992 10:059
    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the answer but I'm sorry to say that from Brazil we can not
    reach any 1-800 number. As it is considered a long distance call and
    has to be charged , it must be a billable (does this word
    exists?) number, what will make the information very expensive....

303.11From the rest of the world.....VOGON::KAPPLERSmiths Knoll Automatic - Rising, Good.Mon Aug 24 1992 12:1615
    Sarita,

    Don't feel bad about not being able to dial 1-800 numbers from Brazil.
    This is also the case from the UK, and probably most places outside of
    the USA.

    Sometimes Mickey and his friends can forget the practicalities that
    apply to his visitors from outside the USA! Funny really, I would have
    expected better from Walt Disney's organisation. (Note, it's also
    difficult to dial M I C K E Y when your phone doesn't have letters on
    it, as is often the case in Europe!)

    Can I suggest you try (407) 824-4321

    John
