Post Marked 24-NOV-1989
To All,
Having a super time at WDW, Thanks for all the Tips. "The Wonders of
Life" was great, Cranium Command was very funny and Body Wars is a
must...once. Big doings this week in the World. The Swan opened
Monday, new Bus routes, and the 1990 Disney Dollars issued this week
(including a $10 Minnie). The opening of "The Little mermaid" is being
promoted Big Time.
The cookout was a success, and Bev Hurrell from the Leeds office
came with her family. Trip report when I return.

Also, chances are looking good for an open Splash Mountain when you're

If anything happens what's 1 castmember. Just kidding.

When we get back I'll write a trip report. Gotta go. My daughter is

Thanks Rose. YOu were right, I needed a new postcard. Your postcard now
rests in it's own spot on my "wailing wall." Interestingly enough it is
an original. I didn't have this particular one.
That brings the total number of postcards and photos on my wall to 91.
HOpe that we're all here next year when I can say, "Thanks (name) for

This lodge is breathtaking! You feel like you are in a National Park.
The lodge is filled with outdoor paintings. In each is Mickey. We have
only found a couple so far.

The front of this card (nine inches long) shows an artist rendition
of Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It's quite a site. I'd guess that the
frontage is close to 800 feet. It's huge.
The caption reads:
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is reminiscent of the majestic resorts
found within America's great national parks.

128.42 | From Mr. Scopa - that trip report must be close! | VAXUUM::FARINA | | Wed Jul 27 1994 14:41 | 22 |
| Hi, Susan -
No regrets. Crowds are still low; especially in MGM. Horizons is
closed. Tell people in the conference that the CBR upped the price of
those mini-bar mugs and now allow guests to "fill up" during their
stay.
I was chosen to do Martin Short's voice in Monster Sound Show
yesterday.
Keep the faith.
Mike

Picture is of Horizons (three different shots):
"Welcome to the future. Designed to reflect all aspects of Future
World, Horizons combines the many facets of tomorrow - energy,
communications, transportation - in a fascinating portrait of the
family of the future."

Postmark on this postcard was July 18, before TZTOT opened to the
public:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Linda,
Boy do I have a lot to report. The cast memebers are all upset about
"Sorcery..." being pulled in MGM. That park is _EMPTY_ at night. No
waiting for any attraction or restaurant. Cast members are riding
TZTOT this week.
Saw All-Star resorts (Tacky) and Blizzard Beach. Finally tried Sci-Fi
Dine In Restaurant. We found the food and service topnotch.
Mike
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE The creation of fossil fuels is part of
Univers of Energy in Future World. The story of the search for
new energy sources even extends into the reaches of outer space.
Presented by Exxon.
The other side of the postcard has three views from the Universe of
Energy. The top half is a picture of the movie portion of the show
with the Space Shuttle blasting off from the launch pad. The bottom
half is two different pictures from the dinosaur portion of the ride.

Hi Ruth,
Got here in 36 hours - 2 days early. Stayed two nights at the
Wilderness Lodge. Awesome! That 81 - 295 route down here is
less stressful but about 75 miles longer than the I95 route.
Temps in mid-80's.
Tell Jay Feenan that the first morning I ran to the Magic Kingdom
(snuck in @ 6:30) then to Pioneer Hall and back to the Lodge.
Spent 20 minutes in the hot spa.
Went to MGM on Thursday. That NY street party turned me off. Get
this, the park was not crowded at all. We went right on any
attraction and ate at Prime Time surrounded by empty tables.
Mike
PS - TZTOT to open July 22nd.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
DISNEY'S WILDERNESS LODGE A beautiful 728 room hotel located on the
south shore of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World, the Lodge is nestled
among the pines and provides a spectacular view of Bay Lake and
Discovery Island. The hotel features fine dining in Artist Point,
family-style dining in Whispering Canyon Cafe, and fast-food dining
in Roaring Fork Snacks & Arcade. Among other features reminiscent
of a national park, the hotel has the only geyser east of the
Mississippi River.
The other side of the postcard has a picture of the Wilderness Lodge.
The picture is actually a drawing/watercolor(?).

Mike & Disney Noters -
The weather is hot-Hot-HOT! The crowds are plenty.
Love TMK at night. Too bad the rest of the week TMK closes at 7:00 P.M.

The front of the card shows a fire engine from TMK and Goofy is in the
front seat with Chip & Dale in the back. The vehicle is parked in front
of Engine Co. 71 (WDW opened in '71)
The caption reads:
Sound the alarm-it's Goofy, Chip and Dale to the rescue.

Hi Mike!
Blizzaed Beach is fun. Did smaller slides, not big one. Place is
crawling with shirts. Now staying on property too.
Alien Encounter and Honey Shrunk Audience both lots of fun.
Robin Williams as Timekeeper very funny. Kids miss jokes.
Looking for Ruth.
Linda Gibson
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The front of ther postcard looks like a cartoon cel of a (blue)
alligator (or crocodile) surfing.
The caption reads:
At Walt Disney World's Blizzard Beach, there are adventures at every
turn! Take a bobsled down the slopes of Mt. Gushmore, or plunge
straight down Summit Plummet - the world's tallest, fastest free-fall
slide.

Hi Mike,
We're having a great time. We've seen a lot of your people. They've
been fairly well behaved but I do have a couple of stories you'll
appreciate. We took the kids on the TZTOT - I screamed; Randy held his
breath; Nicole closed her eyes and cried; and Andrew cried. Both kids
were still sobbing when we bought the picture! Oh, we thought it was
funny that they sell souvenir boxer shorts in the TZTOT store.
Ruth
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture on the front of the card shows the ominous Hollywood Hotel.
The caption reads:
Experience a 13-story free fall on a haunted elevator at Disney-MGM
Studio's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Souvenir nothing! I haven't been on it yet, but from what I hear, when you
get off that ride there is frequently a large demand for clean underwear

and of course the tunnel of color.

leave. :(

This is a great postcard. Picture yourself standing in front of the
TZTOT right about Dusk. The garden lights have come on and you are
tilting your head up to gaze at the tower. The sky behind the Hotel
is still light enough to show the contrast between the heavens
and the Hotel.
Of course to gaze upon the Hotel you must concentrate with your eyes to
wade through the hideous bareboned trees that surround the structure...a
structure dimly litby the seemingly eerie gaslights that guard the
garden grounds of The Hollywood Tower Hotel.
The caption reads:
Inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel, a run-away elevator takes you on a
13-story free fall. Come experience the thrill for yourself...only at
Disney-MGM Studios.

The front of the postcard has a scene from inside the Rainforest Cafe.
Now that I look at it again it looks like it's been taken from inside
the Rainforest Cafe gift shop. It has a jungle-like background and in
the forefront are several tropical birds, along with assorted
merchandise.
There is also a sign that says, "Hand fed domestic baby birds are bred
for sale."
Caption: RAINFOREST CAFE FEATURES LIVE, EXOTIC PARROTS.
Hear the sounds, feel the mist, taste the foods, shop for
Rainforest products, see the most wonderful and exotic animals of
the tropical Rainforests

The Cafe and the gift shop are pretty much one and the same. Well, the
gift shop is in one half of the building and the cafe is in the other half,
and they are basically open to each other - in fact you have to go through
the gift shop (at least one edge of it) to get into the cafe. Is that
marketing or what? :-)
