243.3 | Disneyworld in 92! | DEMSUP::MACDONALD | Has ELVIS been seen at WDW??? | Tue Mar 05 1991 15:18 | 23 |
| WHO: Mark, Ann, Heather, and Matthew MacDonald
(along with my brother in law, his wife, and their 4 children. This
will be the third time we've vacationed together at WDW)
WHEN: April 17 thru May 1 1992
(these are the Ma. and NH school vacation weeks)
WHERE: VISTANA RESORT!!! (The ONLY way to go, we
always get 2 units for the two weeks, and arrange with Vistana
to give us adjacent units close to the super pool etc.)
HOW: Undecided, probably air, but have driven down the
last two trips
LAST TRIPS: Thanksgiving '89 for two weeks, Feb '87 for 1 week
REASON: Whatelse, it's FUN! Plus our son was only 4 months old
the last time, there's always something new to see, the
"same old stuff" is great, and as the kids get older they
appreciate different aspects [like EPCOT] more!

|
243.5 | We earned it! | SALEM::PAGLIARULO_G | Reality is a cosmic hunch | Wed May 29 1991 13:36 | 18 |
| Who: George and Michele Pagliarulo. This is our second trip. The
first time with the kids, this time just the 2 of us. We were
there for the 15th anniversary of the park and decided then to go
back for the 20th.
When: Jan 24th - Feb 10th
Where: Planning on staying at Fort Wilderness. Want to see the
EVERYTHING, including a drive to Sanibel Island on the west
coast for shell collecting.
How: we'll fly down and rent a car at the airport. I'm still trying
to figure out how to get the best deals but we may buy annual
passes to take advantage of any special savings that they might have.
Why: This is a long delayed (6 1/2 years) honeymoon (we opted for the
house instead) hence - no kids. And yes they do remember the 1st
time - they were 12 and 14 at the time.
|
243.6 | It's Official | VISUAL::SCOPA | I'd rather be in Orlando | Mon Jun 10 1991 10:36 | 23 |
| Who: The Scopa Family
When: July 10-24th (or 25th)
Where: Carribbean Beach Resort
How: Driving down again from NE.
Previous Trips: September '75, June '76, July '90
Why: Three reasons:
1. As the kids hit the teenage years this may be one of, if not
the last time we can spend "quality vacation time" together.
2. It's the only place on Earth where I can free myself of
stress.
3. Life is too short to deny yourself and your family a good
time.
Miscellaneous: We're going with Annual Passports this time around...any
stay after 8 days should include these.
|
243.7 | reserv. in hand | HPSTEK::PASCO | Mark 'PASCO' Pascarelli | Thu Jul 11 1991 09:43 | 29 |
| Who : The Pascarelli Family and neighbors. 4 adults, 2 children.
When : arrive july 12 1992
Where : Carribbean and Poly. The rooms are all reserved.
How : Driving
Reason : my 6 year old missed the last trip by 1 month. He wasn't an
"official" Pascarelli yet !
Misc : This will be the second trip (see trip report from 1990) for
myself , wife and oldest son. Have only called Central
reservations 3 times to tweek the reservations since made
them 2 days ago. DIAL 1-800-mickey1......
PLANS : drive down. stopping 1 nite en-route. Using our Grand Caravan ?
stay at the CBR Sunday nite the 12'th. Move to the POLY the
next day and HOPEFULLY get a 4 day WORLD VACATION PACKAGE.
After the 1'st package runs out, Move back to the CBR and
get a 4 day VACATION Holiday package.... for a total of
8 beautiful days in the park.
Pasco
ps. half the fun is planning !

243.8 | Phil and Nancy go back | IAMOK::BANCROFT | | Mon Jul 15 1991 13:19 | 23 |
| Who : Phil and Nancy Bancroft - two middle aged adults
When : 7 days arriving 5 March
Where : Carribbean Beach Resort, reserved yesterday, asked for
Martinique, king size bed, non-smoking, corner room.
How : Flying
Reason : Attending Soldier of Fortune convention in Orlando 13-16
March (instead of the usual Las Vegas Convention), so
decided to add WDW. "I'm going to WDW" sounds much more
reassuring than "Going to SOF to shoot machineguns in the
desert"
Misc : This will be the second trip, first was in 1973 with 2
kids (then small, now grown). The place has grown four
times as big as then. Have 4 guides (including Birnbaums
naturally) to study. Have spend a few years in Europe,
so should enjoy the Epcot countries pavillions.
PLANS : Know the layout, know the offerings, and fly the rest with
no specific plans.
|
243.9 | Mike and Pam going again | JUPITR::M_NORTON | | Tue Jul 30 1991 10:43 | 26 |
| Who : Michael and Pamela Norton - Caitlin (4), Brittany (2) age at
time of trip.
When : Thursday after labor day til The following Sunday 11 days 10 Nights
Where : Grand Floridian and Polynesian: I am trying to get a grand plan
package to stay at the GF. But if pocket doesn't let me I will
spend first and last night at GF. rest of the time at Polynesian
How : Flying out of Boston.
Why : Five year anniversary. plus a treat for the kids
Last trip : Nov 7,1987 Honeymoon at WDW Polynesian.
I am making plans now I still have some concern about little kids at
WDW. I will be using a baby sitter every night so Me and my wife can
enjoy are self to. The kids will be able to go to the neverland as much
as they want this way theres more time for us to enjoy what we want. I
guess WDW is for kids, so we will tend to do every thing the kids want
to do during the day but the nights will be ares. who saids Married
people aren't kids.

243.10 | Making it Pretty Official | WFOVX8::BURZYNSKI_J | | Wed Aug 14 1991 13:09 | 30 |
| Who: The Burzynski/Millette Clan - definitely 2 adults/1 "junior".
Maybe 2 other adults (sister and brother-in-law).
When: July 10-27 (or 28). (I think that someone else in here has
almost the same dates planned - one of the more active noters,
if I remember correctly, who does a count-down, which I am able
to enjoy, as well!)
Where: The reservations are not made yet (I'm just starting to work on
that), but it looks like:
6 days at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (free thanks to Gold
passport points, which really added up with last year's trip
to Hawaii)
6 days each at two of Grand Floridian, Beach Club, or Poly.
(I've read all the notes on the different plans, and can't
make up my mind yet, but it will be a done-deed within the
next week!)
How: Delta (using a free companion coupon that I'll get along with
my Hyatt award)
Why: Because we're currently on a 4-yr. "cycle" of Disney, a cruise,
Hawaii (though probably we'll skip this one next time and do
Australia/N.Z.), and an off year (so this year we aren't going
ANYWHERE - it was time for new A/C, roofing and siding!). We
last went to Disney in 1988, so it's TIME. We will be seeing
MGM, PI, and TL for the first time!
Though I've been before, reading this file has made it clear that there
are always new things, new insights, etc. I have questions, and I'll
try to get them into appropriate notes.

243.11 | A CHANGE IN PLANS | CUPMK::JETTE | | Wed Aug 21 1991 16:58 | 14 |
| I've made some changes to my official signing in for 1992.
WHO: Kathy, Dennis and David Jette (sone 9 years old)
WHEN: July 11 thru 15
WHERE: Fort Wilderness (I've never been there)
HOW: Flying (no reservations yet)
WHY: I can't wait until 1995!
I can't wait to do my first trip report!
|
243.12 | | TECRUS::JIM | Jim Pappas | Wed Sep 04 1991 21:02 | 30 |
| Who: Jim, Debbie, Jennifer(10), Kimberly(8) and Gregory(6) Pappas,
plus,
my mother in law for the first week or so.
When: End of June/beginning of July (final dates TBD)
Where: Off site condo while my MIL is there, then CBR
How: Driving (first time).
Last Trips: Jul 1987 (Disneyland Hotel)
Nov 1989 (Polynesian)
Jun 1990 (CBR)
Aug 1991 (Y&BC)
Now that we are back, I suppose is is OK to enter this note. As
you can tell, we like to vacation at WDW (4th trip). We enjoy
having Deb's or my folks join us for part of the vacation and they
love being with the grandchildren.
When my MIL is with us, we will rent a condo off site. We already
have Irvin Hunt's Sommerset unit reserved (note 177.9). Once she
leaves, we will spend the rest of our vacation at the CBR unless
WDW starts offering AP, stockholder etc. discounts for our time
period. We prefer the nicer hotels at WDW, but unless they offer
them at CBR prices, we will be staying at the "family priced"
resorts (CBR, PO, or DL).
For the 3rd straight time, I am claiming that we will be driving
to WDW for the first time. I really think we will end up driving
this time, but we will see what happens with the air fares as the
time gets closer. If we drive, we will probably make a side trip
to Washington DC on the way home.
|
243.13 | | WECROW::HILL | Peter | Tue Oct 01 1991 13:52 | 25 |
| OK we got hooked.
Who: Peter, Barbara, Alex (16) and Rowena (6)
Last Trip. - April 91. Our first trip. We drove down. Camped (tenting) in Fort
Wilderness. Did four solid days of WDW. Drove home.
Next Trip:
Flying down Feb 14th return Feb 23rd.
I've booked 2 nights at the Polynesian (15th and 16th) but I think
I'll move that back a day and spend 2 nights at the CBR or Port Orleans.
The rest of the time we'll stay outside of the property.
We're going:
1) to see WDW the things we missed last time.
2) to get away from the New England February weather.
3) to see Universal Studios, Sea World and Busch Gardens.
It looks like it's going to be expensive. No hotel or airline discounts.
I have not looked into a car yet.

243.14 | Scratch the itch; it itches more! | ADTSHR::SUTTON | Percussion..strings..winds..words | Wed Oct 16 1991 10:35 | 25 |
| (In case you were wondering, I messed up on the dates - here's
a corrected entry:)
Who: The Suttons -- John, Laurie, Deanna, and Timothy
Last Trip: November 1990, _just_ before Thanksgiving. "Passed
through" WDW on our way from a business trip to Tampa to visit
the in-laws. Couldn't miss the opportunity to stop by...
(Other trips in '82, '84, '88, '90)
How: Most likely, we'll drive down. We're keeping our collective
eyes peeled for any airfare specials, though. (I'll be making
_extensive_ use of this file to collect driving tips!)
When: Leaving April 23 or 24, returning May 4 or 5.
Where: Caribbean Beach, Martinique, 2nd floor, corner room, non-
smoking. Thanks for the tip(s)!
Why: Why not? (Well, OK, some reasons.)
- Early 10th anniversary celebration
- See WDW's 20th "" ""
- We won't have gotten to WDW in 1991 )-:

243.15 | April, 1992 | FDCV14::YOUNG | Steve Young DDD/M16 DTN 264-4335 | Wed Oct 30 1991 13:46 | 21 |
| When: April 23 - May 2 1992
Who: The Young family - Steve(me) Kathy(my wife) Adam(son 13) Beth(daughter 10)
Where: Fort Wilderness
How: Driving down pulling tent-trailer. Leave Thursday mid-afternoon and drive
until Friday night around 6:00. Put up in a motel wherever we are when
can't drive anymore. Then into WDW early on Saturday.
Why: My wife and I had agreed that we would not be going again for at least a
few years, because we have planned a large (read expensive) vacation out
west (Grand Canyon and surrounding states) for 1993 and are saving money
for that.
Neighbors came back this summer and told us how great MGM and TL were and
started the itch again. We've never seen MGM, TL, or PI.
Other neighbors mentioned that they were thinking of driving down during
April vacation and my wife and I looked at each other and decided
"Why Not?"

243.16 | Now I'll have two annuals, one per coast. | SWAM1::STERN_TO | Have TK; Will Travel | Wed Oct 30 1991 15:53 | 39 |
| Who: Tom Stern
When: twice, it appears.
4-Jan-1992 thru 10-Jan
and 24-Aug thru 4-Sep
Why: The January trip is going to be with family. My parents
promised to take my niece (the only grandchild, age 15),
and my sister and brother-in-law invited themselves along.
The more I thought of it (and about how my father had once
invited himself along on one of my Vegas trips), the more I
decided that a family trip while we could all get away
would be a good idea.
The summer trip is in conjunction with the World Science
Fiction convention in Orlando. I have one group of friends
who are planning on doing their Disney-ing before the
convention, and a different group who are planning on going
immediately after. Being a Disney-addict (and owing to the
fact that the week before the convention will be my tenth
anniversary with Digital (Tom Stern, you have been with
Digital for ten years; here's your extra weeks vacation;
how are you going to spend it? I'm going to Walt Disney
World!!), I'm going to do BOTH.
Where: Yet to be decided. The family trip will be staying at a
Residence Inn, as my mother is diabetic and will need a
refrigerator for her insulin. The WorldCon will be at the
convention hotel before the Con, and I've got friends who
have access to a time-share condo for after.
I already know, the first thing I do when I get into the park area is
going to be to get an annual pass. I may order it ahead of time, so
that I can save a buck or three on the parking.
66 days and counting. I'd better do well in Vegas over Christmas.

My parents
When: May 9 - 16
Where: ?? Have leads, decision pending...
Last visits: May 1984, July 1975
We will be driving down from Maryland. Leaving on Friday May 8th and
stopping half way in North/South Carolina at Aunt's house for sleep
break (she lives right at the border). Will be following the same plan
for the trip home. Hope our trip is better than my sister-in-laws
this past August. They flew down in August. The first day was spent
at Typhoon Lagoon. Day 2 it rained hard all day. Day 3 they went to
MK. Also did characater breakfast in which her son was terrified of
the characters! Day 4 rained all day so they went to MGM. That
evening were shopping in Disney Village when her husband was
taken to emergency room with kidney stones. Got home 3:00 in the
morning and was exhausted for the MK and Epcot day. Day 5 rained
again!! Day 6 child was ill never made it to Pleasure Island for
evening. Day 7 flew home. She calls it the vacation from hell.
Unfortunately it cost them a bundle, as they stayed at Fort
Wilderness at $180 a night with tickets and air fare and didn't
even get to enjoy all that they had planned.

any better vacation anywhere?? If anyone can post information on Dixie
Landing, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't normally wish my life
away but I sure do wish it were June right now.

243.37 | March 20-27 1992 | TPSYS::ESPOSITO | | Fri Feb 07 1992 13:26 | 26 |
| Who: Steve & Michelle Esposito and 17 month old Tony.
Michelle's Parents
When: March 20-27
How: Father In Law and Steve drive, leaving from Leominster on March
19th at Midnight. Drive 18 hours to just past Jacksonville Fl.
Stay over night on the 20th. Leave early, get to Orlando by
8:00am. Unload golf clubs and luggage and go play 18 holes.
Drive to Orlando Airport to pick up Mother in law, wife and
child by 2:00pm.
Where:Villa owned by a Deccie in Switzerland that has its own pool and
use of 2 18 hole golf courses for no extra charge. The rate for
the week is very reasonable for a 3 bedroom home.
Why: Why the heck not. I went in '81 before Epcot and MGM snf every
thing else. The rest haven't been yet. They are very excited.
The airfare my wife got was only $233.00 round trip through Crimson
travel. I believe the flight is a charter.
We bought our Disney 4 day passports at the Disney Store in Pheasent
Lane mall with the DCK. No Florida Tax!!!
I want to play golf and see as much as possible. If I don't see
everything it will be a good excuse to go back. With a 17 month old
baby, I suspect there will be things that I won't see. Also, the best
will be to take a day to go to Kennedy Space Center to watch the
Shuttle launch on March 23rd, barring no delays.

243.43 | Daytona/Orlando bound April 9-19 | ICS::GRUBBS | | Wed Feb 26 1992 19:01 | 36 |
|
Travelers: Myself and wife, Debbie
Date: We'll be gone from April 9-19
How: We are driving the convertible down to Florida
for a little Spring Break action in Daytona before
heading for Orlando.
Where: In Orlando we are staying a cheapo Econolodge ($42 a night)
in Kissimmee about four miles from WDW. In Daytona we are
staying on the beach in the middle of the action.
Last Visit: Honeymoon in May 1990......couldn't wait very long
to go back.
Major plan of attack:
---------------------
Leave Early thursday morning, arrive in Daytona Friday night.
Party in Daytona until sunday morning, top down on the beach!
Sunday visit to Space Center, and get to Orlando by dusk.
From Sunday night till the next Saturday morning do Orlando "things"
Disney and others.....
Start Drive home early Saturday morning, take Monday off to relax
assuming we make it back by Sunday night.
We plan on doing a few Disney things and few other things (like Sea World
and Universal Studios). Disney visits will probably only include
EPCOT, Pleasure Island, and River Country or Typhoon Lagoon. We plan
on taking it real slow and enjoying this one.........this is sort
of a last minute trip so we will also be doing the economy routine of
making our own lunch sandwiches and stuff so we can splurge on a good
dinner in the Hard Rock or EPCOT Mexico...
|
243.44 | May 3-8 - can't wait! | CUPTAY::FARINA | | Fri Feb 28 1992 18:50 | 27 |
| Who: Susan (me), Mom, and Gram
When: May 3 - May 8
How: Delta from Manchester to West Palm for first part of trip; Avis
rental from West Palm to Orlando; Delta from Orlando to
Manchester, NH (Mom and Gram are both senior citizens, so we all
got the senior discount - $349 rt)
Where: Dixie Landing in the Alligator Bayou! Can't wait! We'll only
sleep there, so requested a parking lot view ($106. with tax)
Why: Mom's cousin is turning 60 on May 1, so we're going down to
surprise her; since we're there already, why not do Disney? (As
if they would have had a choice if they hadn't wanted to go!!)
Last Trip: August 1990 for me; Mom went this week, but only one day in
EPCOT (and that was her first trip); Gram hasn't been since
before EPCOT, I think.
I'll be looking for advice on what to do with a couple of senior
citizens with arthritis! ;-) We'll be there a week ahead of Mom's
65th and one month ahead of Gram's 84th birthdays. I can't wait. And
I will try hard to write a trip report when I get back!

243.45 | 19 days and Disney bound without the Kids | PLUGUG::NMCKENNA | | Thu Mar 05 1992 17:07 | 28 |
| Who: Norb and Marcie McKenna (NO KIDS) and three co-workers.
When: March 25-April 2
How: Marcie and I are driving straight through. This sounds crazy
but we figure one sleeps while the other drives. Leaving March
24th around 6pm and arriving WDW March 25th around 10pm. The
other three are flying.
Where:First night is at Dixie Landing. Rest of week is in a Tree
House Villas on the World Vacation Plan (7night/8days).
Why: Well I heard these three co-workers were going and started
begging them to take me (as a joke). When they said "seriously
you and Marcie should go", I said, "no way I can't afford it."
Well we rationalized that since it was WDW's and our 20th
anniversary that we could afford it after all. We also rationalized
that since it is our 20th anniversary we could leave the kids
behind and worry only about us. We have resveration for the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, the Polynesian Revue, Broadway at the Top,
The Empress Room and Victoria & Albert's.
Past Trips: Aug 75 Fort Wilderness Trailer

How : Flying out of Boston
Why : Officially, the 20th anniversary. Really, its been 2 years and

I've gone every 2 or three years, except for college, since third
grade. My wife and I honeymooned there. She thought I was nuts to

When: October 12 - October 20
Where: 8 nights at the Yacht and Beach Resort (Beach)
How: Driving down from Shrewsbury, MA
Why: It's been two years, and its time to go. We wanted to go with
someone for once (to share the experience and do things like
Pleasure Island together), and since we get along with my folks
just like friends, it seemed like a good idea (my Dad won't go
anywhere except WDW for vacations anymore). Me and the wife have
been there 3 times together, lots more before we wed, and we
spent our honeymoon there. I still remember my first trip in
'77 with my family. A lot of people give me an "I'm sorry"
look when I tell them we're going with the 'rents, especially
*driving*!
Just firing up the ole VACATION.COM was great!!! What a
feeling when you first realize for sure you are going back!

243.50 | HiHO! HiHO! To Disney World We Go... | SHALOT::CLARK | | Wed Mar 18 1992 11:25 | 42 |
|
WHO: Terry and Teresa Clark
plus Christopher age 6 and Brittany age 2
WHEN: April 8 1992 thru April 16 1992
WHERE: 8 nights at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East
9 days at Walt Disney World (and maybe, just maybe take in
Seaworld and Universal Studios)
HOW: From Charlotte, NC to Orlando via US Air
LAST VISIT: I and the kids have never been to Disney World. My wife was
there around age 10 (approx 22 years ago)
WHY: I've never been.
This is my first reply to this conference. I've been reading it for
several days now and love the excitement expressed in the notes.
Like I said above, I've never been to Disney World. Growing up I
almost never missed the hour long Disney show on Sunday nights.
Whenever they showed scenes for the theme parks I would go nuts.
I've held out as long as I could and I can't take it anymore. I've
got to see for myself what this magic is. We are taking the kids
along because they are big fans of Mickey, especially my 2 year old
daughter. She sleeps with Baby Mickey, Minnie, and Donald. She
couldn't care less for her other animals. We have a 5 day superpass
and plan to spend as much time in the park as possible. We will
probably take a break in the middle of the day, go back to the hotel
for lunch and Brittany's nap. Then back to Disney.
I know the time we are going to the second busiest time but we really
didn't have much choice. I'm hoping that early next year my wife and
I can return for a 10th anniverary trip (without the kids).
Oh well, just writing this note has my heartrate up. I really can't
wait to get down there!! Wish us luck.

WHEN: April 8 1992 thru April 13 1992
WHERE: 5 nights at Dixie Landings Alligator Bayou.
(made the reservations just last week).
HOW: From Boston, MA to Orlando via TWA $252
(also made just last week).
LAST VISIT: October 1990, our honeymoon.
WHY: Why ask why?
Mom always wanted to go, but hasn't ever been. My trip to
Disneyland last fall got cancelled the day before I was supposed
to go, so I needed it bad. My wife is very supportive of my
addiction (and I think just as crazy about the place as I am).
Dad doesn't seem to care one way or the other.
This will be our first time staying on-property. I have already
had a bad experience with CRO. I will reserve the details
for my trip report and my judgement until the trip is over.

STEPENS (MK), TONY'S (MK), ITALY (Epcot) and the restaurant at the PORT
ORLEANS.
Followed Birmbaums to the tee and it worked like a gem.
Up in the morning for Beinget and coffee, run the parks, watch the

we booked it on our own as we couldn't get the TNT package for

When: July 20 to July 26

How: I'm going on a free frequent flier ticket from a friend,
My brother has to pay for his ticket 8^) United $262.50
round trip non-stop Logan to Orlando. National Rent-a-car
for $116.95/week. Gala Vista = $34.95/night.
Why: That's a silly question, to see everything new since my
last visit in 1987 and to see my favorites again.
We plan on doing WDW every day (we may sneak to US for
a day but I'd rather stick to WDW). I know it'll be hot
but when you have a free ticket offered you don't say
"Oh but it's toooo hotttt (with a whine in my voice)!" you
say "Great I'll take it!!". If you're there at the same
time as my brother and I, I'll be the one with the 28,000
sun block on and he'll be the tall one (well I got the good
looks, at least thats what I keep telling myself ;^) ).

243.64 | Well... we did it! | PHDVAX::RICCIO | H. Ross Perot for President! | Sat May 30 1992 22:18 | 26 |
|
Well we did it! Because of the air fares, 4 roundtrip tickets
direct from Philly to Orlando, $588. How can you beat that?
We went last year from July 2nd through the 12th. (Real cheap
thanks to almost 200K marriott points. I would recommend the Marriott
World to everyone. Great place, but a little pricey if you have to pay
for it.) We were not planning on it this year, but we really wanted to
go because of the 20 year anniversary, the cheap air fares were a
great excuse.
We'll be staying at the Carribean beach. We stayed there 3 years
ago, great place and the price is even better.
A quick question. We're going the week of August 14th - 21st. I'm
not to concerned with the heat. Last year it was hotter in Philly when
we got home, then it was in Orlando. How are the crowds in mid August?
We've been twice in October (before the kids were in school) and last
year in July, but never in August. Any comments?
Phil... Who's counting down the days!

to go back since. Couldn't beat the airfare or the lodging.
Renting a compact from Value Rental for the week for $65.00 unlimited

Any hints, suggestions greatly appreciated.

How: Driving from Massachusetts
Why?? The National Insulator Association's 23rd annual convention is at the
Orlando Airport Marriott (the other potential site was Marlboro, MA
believe it not!) June 19-21. We're bringing our award-winning exhibit.
And while we're down there, it would be a sin not to make the most of it!
Where: Airport Marriott (mostly) til Sunday night, 6/21, then Disney World til
we decide to come home.
Staying:
Airport Marriott (of course) til Sunday night, then WDW Dolphin til we
decide to come home or get kicked out! Have reservations til Friday AM
and they said "no problem" extending them once we get there.
New since last visit: (October 1986)
MGM, Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island, Wonders of Life, and a few other
things I'm sure!
Note of interest:
Even though we knew last summer that the convention would be in Orlando,
I didn't do anything as far as planning until Memorial Day weekend. I
guess I'm better off being one of the kids that you don't tell until
the last minute that you're going away! :-) The other 2 times that I
went were also pretty much last minute plans.

favorites and some new ones (hopefully Splash mountain and the new
Epcot Living Body). Kids want to get on Nickelodeon show and see MGM
and Universal. Plan on spending 12-5 in Typhoon Lagoon or Contemporary
pool.
I know 1 month is a bit extravagant, but my wife is very sick and this
could be our last family vacation...so why not do it right!!
Trip report to follow in August. Thanks for all the great assistance
extracted from this notes file. It will greatly contribute to a well
planned trip.

243.70 | An unexpected pleasure | NEWVAX::DOYLE | Endor Frequent Traveler | Thu Jun 25 1992 13:40 | 24 |
| Well, I never expected it. And I still can't believe it. But....
we're going back this year!!!
WHO: Ted and Ellen Doyle
WHEN: 25 July - 1 August
WHY: Because I've been unexpectedly asked to do consulting at NASA
for 3 days! And that (still valid) annual passport was just begging
"Use me! Before it's too late!" So I couldn't resist, since I'll
be down there anyway, and do I really need an excuse?? (not
around this group, I don't)
Staying: Disney Vacaction Club, studio. Ken and Jackie Kuscher's
terrific descriptions convinced us to give it a try. We'll
be staying 7/29-8/1 at Disney; before then we'll be staying
somewhere near NASA. (My lucky husband...he'll get to play
while I work)
HOW: DEC pays for me; Ted gets my last Frequent Flyer ticket.
I can't wait to do the things I didn't have time to do the
first time! I STILL can't believe we're going back...

243.71 | O'Brien clan to hit WDW in 92 days | DIALUS::ROBRIEN_C | | Thu Jul 02 1992 13:30 | 29 |
| When: Oct 3rd to OCt 11th
Who: Bob and Sandy (my wife) and Kelly (daughter 9yrs)...Also Ron (my
brother) Ann (his wife) Carly, Kristen,(twins 10 yrs) Tim (8yrs) and
Mike (5yrs) my nieces and nephews
How: We are all flying down on the same plane out of Boston
Staying: C.B.R for all nights
Last visit for my family was three years ago and we stayed at the
Sheraton in Kissimee
Why: It is time again!
I turned 40 and I think that a good enough reason!!!
Also the last time we were there we did not see half of what WDW
has to offer. This will not happen this time thanks to this
conferance and the books I have read.
92 days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
243.72 | 72 days and counting! | AKOCOA::KNIPSTEIN | | Fri Jul 10 1992 14:24 | 15 |
| WHO: Stephen, Patricia, Robert (age 11) and Beth (9) Knipstein
WHEN: Sept 20-23
WHERE: MK, EPCOT, MGM
STAYING: Caribbean Beach Resort
WHY: We are going to be in Atlanta the 17th-19th for a convention,
figured, why not take an extra couple of days at WDW since we
would be so close. Wife and kids did WDW with my wife's
sister back in 87, but I had to stay behind as I had just
started with DEC 3 weeks earlier. The four of us did attend
a convention at the Disneyland Hotel in November of 1985.
Daughter Beth is a real Disneyphile!

243.73 | No Disney in July... | NEWVAX::DOYLE | Endor Frequent Traveler | Mon Jul 27 1992 22:21 | 26 |
|
Well, it's July 27th, and I'm not in WDW. I'm in my office, and the
business trip to Orlando that was going to be the excuse for
us to hit WDW again got cancelled. Unfortunately, we decided that we
just couldn't rationalize going again before our Annual Passports
expired.
NOT!
We got so excited at the thought of going that we decided to do
it anyway (this notes file has a habit of causing similar reactions,
doesn't it?). So, we are now slated to go from 3 September to 8
September. The first night is (tentatively) set for the Disney Inn,
followed by 4 nights at the Polynesian, with all nights at the
Annual Passholder's Special rate.
I'm so relieved to put VACATION.COM back into my login!
Ellen (and Ted) Doyle
P.S. Special thanks to the Official Splash Mountain advance team for
all their hard work field testing the latest WDW attraction for
us. :-)

243.75 | | NOVA::FEENAN | Jay Feenan Rdb/xxx Engineering | Mon Aug 31 1992 20:24 | 29 |
| Trip 1:
Who: Myself
When: 9/7-9/12
How: Air
Where: FW Trailer, explained later.
Reason: Have to teach a seminar and give a few talks at a conference at the
Dolphin Hotel.
Trip 2:
Who: myself, wife (Tricia), Molly (10), Jimmy (7), Kathryn (5)
When: 11/14 - 11/21
Where: FW Trailer
How: Air - Using up those FF miles.
Last Trip: Our first trip was last November.
Reason: Although I travel (and my wife with me on occasion) all over, this
was the BEST vacation we have ever had.
Since I was going down on business and the Dolphin was expensive and the
alternative hotel they wanted to put me was also fairly up there I got an idea...
since I like a kitchen for alternative food sources on business (I like
staying at suite type of motels if they are cost effective) and we would be
going down again sometime this year...I bought an annual pass and booked a
trailer at 50% off. I just got thru making our Nov reservations for 50% off
and I can maybe get to the park an evening or two!

Gulf Coast (still booking!) 17-22nd
WDW Fort Wilderness Trailer (etc.) 22-29th
WHY: a) Trying to use up TWA miles with 7 Trans-Atlantic
returns before they become worthless!
b) We've never been to Florida or WDW
c) Kids and Out-laws have never been to U.S.A.
d) First real holiday for 3 years
e) May be my last with Digital as my boss
The whole trip has been planned (?) with the help of the Conference.
Without it and lot's of volunteered information I don't think we'd have
made it!!

SPLASH!!!!!!! here I come (Just how cold can it get in FL.)
Usually read only - the Brits don't make good orators and
our U.K. rep (WOTVAX::BATTY - hi Mike!) seems to be doing a good job :-)
Trip report WILL be done this time.......
Thanks for the MOUNTAINS of info everyone - anyone in the World around
the same time needs any goodies from U.K. - we'll have empty suitcases
on the way out ready to raid the character wharehouse
(damn - there goes the secret).
Anyone going to Orlando soon - I would appreciate the freebie ad mags in the
internal mail (plan just isn't the same without the discount tickets!)

243.42 | Updated: Second trip this year (see .15 for first) | FDCV14::YOUNG | Steve Young DDD/M16 DTN 264-4335 | Wed Oct 21 1992 22:34 | 26 |
| Since the time is getting close I thought I'd update this. There have been a
couple of small changes in how some of the people are getting there.
WHO: Myself, Kathy (my wife), Kathy's grandmother (88), and Kathy's Mom & Dad
Kids are staying home with a neighbor.
WHEN: November 5 - November 15
WHERE: FW trailers (Annual Passholders Special $75 a night)
HOW: Kathy's mother and grandmother will be flying down from Boston on
October 31 and staying with relatives in Port St. Lucie until Nov. 6.
(They'll be flying Delta, even though I told my mother-in-law
that all of the other witches will be using their brooms that night.) B^)
Kathy's father won't fly, so Kathy and I will be driving down with him on
Nov. 5 arriving Nov. 6.
WHY: Kathy's folks have never been. Her grandmother has been to MK before EPCOT.
Kathy's father has asthma and had a small stroke a couple of years ago so
can only walk short distances and will need a wheelchair. We also figure
that Kathy's grandmother will need a wheelchair (although I hope I have
half the energy she does when I'm that age). Kathy mentioned that
they were thinking of going down and she was going to offer to go with
them to help with the wheelchair pushing. I told her she couldn't go
unless she took me.

243.79 | WDW 11/6-11/14 | WMOIS::CARROLL_M | | Thu Nov 05 1992 02:29 | 30 |
|
When: Nov.6th-Nov14th (Holy cow that's only a day away!)
Who: the CARROLL family (Mike, wife Paula, Greg (12+), Jennifer (who
will turn 9 in disney!) PLUS my Mother & Father in-law & my
25 year old single sister-in-law.
Where: Port Orleans
Why: Kids are at a good age. November because it's too expensive to
stand in the School vacation type lines, and in our school
system next week, Mon/Tues/Thur/Fri are all 1/2 days for Parent-
Teacher conferences & Wed is a Day Off (Veteran's Day).
How: US Air from Logan
Last Trip: a memorable one as it coincided with our last "major"
snowstorm -- Feb. '87. Spent the nite before at a Boston
area hotel so as to avoid the traffic tie-ups due to the
impending storm. Meet the other family (3 adults, 2 kids)
at Logan as they were dropped off. All flights were
cancelled, next one was 2 days away! Drove home with 5
adults; 4 kids; 8-10 suitcases in a mid-size wagon, thru
a snow storm only to find our street impassable.
Comments: I've been a "read only" noter up to this point. Thanks for
all the info. it's fabulous. I'll try to do a trip report
but can't match some of the ones I've seen!
