229.0. "Halloween at WDW and Disneyland" by SKYLRK::BERG () Fri Oct 26 1990 15:24

      O.K. You Guys.

How many have been to WDW at Halloween? Are there any special
      events happening on Halloween day/night?

I meant to ask this sooner, (since I leave in about 43 hours) but
at least a HALLOWEEN at DISNEY might prove interesting in later
years if I don't find any info now.

I plan on bringing a costume, any ideas which might be the best
park to hang out at? Or maybe pleasure island?

      Thanks

    +- Sharon

According to the Birnbaum Guide:

October 31: Halloween. Youngsters get dressed up and join Disney
villans in the Halloween costume contest at Disney Village Marketplace.

When you get back, let us know what happened. It will be useful for future
years.

Although I am a native Californian, I have never seen a Halloween
at Disneyland. I'd love any info about past trips or even the
one coming up in '90. Maybe I'll be able to make it next year!

We were at WDW for Halloween last year. We didn't go over to the
Disney Village Marketplace so I can't comment on that. In general,
the holiday was ignored. The only thing we saw was a hotel guest
dressed up in a costume. I didn't think to ask her where she was
going. If there was anything special going on, it was real low
key. Perhaps the Haunted Mansion was a little more haunted or some
Halloween treats were given out at sit down restaurants. I was
    really disappointed.

    Halloween '90:

The Contemporary had a Party (cost money to go) for families in one
    of the convention rooms.

Many Cast members dressed up - in fact I think there was an internal
    contest for the best dressed.

The most happening place was Pleasure Island, where everybody came
dressed up. There was also a costume contest which gave away a trip
to the Haunted Mansions of the World (Disney Anaheim, Orlando, and
Tokyo). Interestingly enough, *everybody* knew who was going to
win when they saw him walking around the Island (he was in a costume
where his head was severed and on a platter held by a monster), but
there must have been about 200 entrants.

I thought I would ask this question again. We are thinking
of traveling down to WDW next Halloween 1992, is it a event
that is celebrated or just like one noter said generally ignored?

I was in WDW for Halloween this past year. We stayed at the Poly and
were given a flyer in the hotel saying not to wear any costumes to the
park. In the park itself the only difference I saw was that the line
for the Haunted House was too long to wait on. There was a big
Costume contest at Pleasure Island that night. This was the only place
    that was decorated for Halloween.

Being from New England, I missed the cool weather, pumkins etc., found
in New England. With the weather being so warm in Florida. I just
didn't feel Halloweenish. I just enjoyed being in WDW and on Vacation.

I was at WDW just before Halloween in '94 and vaguely remember
seeing flyers about a happening at MGM on Halloween. We are going
again this year and thought it would be nice to be there over
Halloween. Does anyone know of anything happening this year?

I go down evert 3 years during that timeframe and I don't remember
anything happening at mgm but universal studios makes a big tadue
every saturday night in the month of Oct. and super big party on
halloween...it is unbelievable...they shut the part down early and
reopen from 6 to midnight. this is a must see horror night.
