218.2New Show for Disney AfternoonFDCV07::GOLDBERGLen, I'm a friend of Walt D.Tue Feb 12 1991 11:148
There is a report floating around USENET that Gummi Bears will be
replaced in the fall by a new series, "Dark Wing Duck". If Disney
holds true to form DWD should premiere this spring on the Disney
Channel before moving into the Disney Afternoon line-up.

    Stay tuned for further details.

    "There so much to do..."
218.3" Dark Wing Duck " debuts this spring on Disney ChannelAKOCOA::HILLTue Feb 12 1991 23:3835

Actually, this is true. " Dark Wing Duck " will be replacing
" The Gummi Bears " on the Disney Afternoon starting in the fall
of 1991. ( If you folks would like an advance peak at the title
character of the new series, take a closer look at the opening
animation for the " Disney Afternoon. " As Mickey's pulling the
characters up off the sheet of paper, you'll see a duck wearing
a mask, a long cape and an oversized hat. This is Dark Wing Duck,
    Duckburg's newest hero. )
Under the current plan, selected episodes of " Dark Wing Duck "
will begin appearing on the Disney Channel starting in April. These
will run through the summer, before the show officially joins the Disney
Afternoon line-up. ( By the way, the new batting order for the show
-- as of September 1991 -- would appear to be " Rescue Rangers, "
    " Duck Tales, " " Dark Wing Duck, " and " Tale Spin. " )
As I understand it, " Dark Wing Duck " will make use of many of
the same characters we currently see in the " Duck Tales " show.
Supposedly, Launchpad McQuack will be Dark Wing's trusty assistant,
he'll recieve technical support from Gryo Gearloose, he'll often
be hired by Scrooge McDuck. You get the idea.
Anyway, what will Disney do with the " Gummi Bears " show. Not to
worry. Starting in the fall of 1991, Disney will begin offering TV
stations an hour of animation they can run between 7 and 9 in the
morning. This program will be called -- surprise, surprise -- ' The
Disney Morning Show. " The hour of animation will be made up of
" Gummi Bear " and " Winnie the Pooh " episodes.
And -- come the fall of 1992 -- Well, expect " Duck Tales " to
move from the " Disney Afternoon " to the " Disney Morning " show,
which will extend the running time of that show to 90 minutes each
day. This will make room for the " Disney Afternoon "'s next new
show, " Goof Troop, " starring our old pal, Goofy, as a scoutmaster
    and his son, Max.
Beyond that ... Oh, I don't know. Probably world domination.

    					JRH
218.4" Let's Get Dangerous "AKOCOA::HILLMon Apr 01 1991 00:4813

Caught an advance preview of " Dark Wing Duck " on the Disney
Channel this afternoon. Verrry interesting. The animation and the
writing -- at least for this episode -- was markedly different than
any of the other " Disney Afternoon " shows. The animation was just
shy of Disney feature quality, with lots of use of detail and shadows.
And the writing ! Well, if you're a fan of the old Warner Brothers
and Bullwinkle cartoons, you'll like " Dark Wing Duck. " There were
lots of jokes that would have sailed over little kids' heads but
would have really tickled Mom or Dad. Very funny little show.
So -- ready or not -- here comes the world's most dangerous duck !
Coming soon to a TV, and a " Happy Meal, " and a video tape, and a
soft plush toy, etc. near you.

218.6Timon and Pumbaa coming to TelevisionWREATH::SCOPATue Jan 24 1995 11:2415
Wow it's been over 40 months since an entry hit this topic.

    Anyway...

...this Fall you'll be seeing the lovable duo of Timon and
Pumbaa (voices of Nathan Lanes and Ernie Sabella) in a new
          show on The Disney Afternoon.

My source says that the show will air on the 4th half hour
          segment of TDA.

I don't think we'll see promotions for this until early
          Summer.
