MISS AMERICA COMES HOME TO DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS THEME PARK OCT. 16-17

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- A homecoming celebration fit
for a queen is planning for Miss America, Leanza Cornett of Winter Park, Fla.,
at the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park Oct. 16-17.

Cornett, who played the title role of Ariel in the "Voyage of the Little
Mermaid" attraction at the Studios prior to being named Miss America, will be
feted with a homecoming parade on Hollywood Blvd. Oct. 17. There'll be
proclamations from Gov. Lawton Chiles and the mayor of Winter Park and salutes
by officials from the Miss America and Miss Florida pageants.

The Walt Disney World homecoming celebration includes Cornett's first
Florida media tour since being crowned Miss America. She greets the media
Oct. 16 in a 10 a.m. news conference and photo opportunity on the Studios'
Soundstage Two. Also from the Disney-MGM Studios, Cornett will be interviewed
via satellite by major-market television stations from across the country.

On Oct. 17, theme park guests will have a chance to meet Miss America up
close and personal. At 1:30 p.m., Cornett will be the honored guest in a
homecoming parade and welcoming ceremony with shiny convertibles, a brass band
and Disney characters on Hollywood Blvd.

Also participating will be Cornett's parents, local and state dignitaries,
the new Miss Florida and Miss America Pageant officials.

Afterward, Studio guests will have their change to query Cornett during "A
Conversation With Miss America" at Theater of the Stars.

Saturday evening, several hundred guests will honor Cornett at a private
reception and fund-raiser at the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park to benefit the
Miss Florida Scholarship Foundation. The reception features a special showing
of the Studios' popular Broadway-style musical, "Beauty and the Beast -- Live
on Stage," followed by the official crowning of the new Miss Florida, Melinda
Miller, who replaced Cornett.

The homecoming celebration ends on a regal note as Cornett graces the stage
with a musical performance.

The 21-year-old Cornett arrives home on the heels of a hectic national media
tour that included such high-profile shows as "Good Morning America," NBC
"Today," "The David Letterman Show" and "The Tonight Show."

Despite her busy schedule, Cornett also plans to spend time Saturday
visiting with fellow cast members of "Voyage of The Little Mermaid."

For all you football fans. Last year after this event, a few of the
football players hung out at the Beach Club. Had we know we would
have brought a football for signing. The only one I had recognized was
Drew Blledsoe and that's only because of the MCDonald commercials. We
did have him autograph our Mickey Mouse autograph book.
