| | Anyone who is familiar with telephone circuits/switching:

Would a person from a distant location (say Framingham) have a better
chance of making a connection to the contest number than a person
from a local area (Worcester) because of more local people trying to
    reach the contest line?

I guess I'm just wondering in there is a tiered connection which would
automatically handicap folks calling from local exchanges? Anyone have
    a guess?

| | Well finally received the information packet from WXLO.

The package is thru VACATION VENTURES, INC with the specifics
    as follows:

4 days 3 nights at the PARK INN INTERNATIONAL. No meals and no
    ground transportation.

You may upgrade to the HILTON GATEWAY INN at an additional $45
    per night.

You must fill out an enclosed form and send it to VVI with the
date you would like to go. The date must be 60 days from the day
you sent in the reservation form. You can pick three dates. Your
second choice must be 15 days from your first and the third must
be 15 days from the second. You must send a non-refundable processing
fee of $15 per person with the reservation form. When you receive
your confirmation letter you must sign it and send a $35per person
    deposit to VVI.

You must leave on a Monday and return on a Thursday. You can request
additional days at $95 a night and pay a surcharge for returning
    any day other than Thursday.

You also are required to pay VVI all taxes which are incurred.

We also received a check for $274 to pay for the processing fee
and reservation deposit with the remainder to be used to purchase
four 1 day passes to WDW.

We are calling WXLO this morning to confirm that this is the package
because my wife was told that it was all expenses paid plus spending
money. We where also led to believe by others that it was for 6
    days 7 nights.

I'll update this note after talking with WXLO this morning.

    Ray,

Was Airfare included? This package sound similar to the various WDW
free vacations offered around the Manchester NH area over the years by
various Auto Dealers/Furniture stores/etc. Usually ended up being just
the lodging accomodations and a few minor extras were free, things like
Air, Car, Meals, and REAL spending money was up to the Winner of the
    package to provide.

All though there are some REAL FREE WDW packages offered from time to
time like those from a local orginazation raffle etc, most however tend
to fall in the former catagory I'm afraid. After all can a radio
station afford to give away a package that if were really free for 1
week worth around 4K for a familly of four a day?

| |
    Today's time is 6:40pm...

Interesting on the "trip you won"

    $15/processing fee/person + $35/deposit/person is $50/person,
times 4 is $200... That more than covers the three nights
you could spend on a motel ($65/night for 4 in a room),

Then the money to buy one day passes to WDW, means you get to
go into only one place, since you can't buy a one day pass to
    all three parks!

The ideal situation would be to already have a spring trip planned
and payed for, and then win, take the $274 check you get and buy
some 5 days passes, and forget the hotel...

Did you find out if it includes anything besides the hotel and
    one day passes?

    			-Annie

on a shopping spree to the nearest Disney Store....

Sounds like a pretty disappointing package. I don't think I will

The radio station, mentioned in the base note, WXLO in Worcester MA
is once again giving away a free trip to WDW (one a day) during
the month of May. As before, details are given at 7:15 each morning.
The call sign of the radio station is 104.5 FM.

Have no idea what the trip includes. A winner of a trip the last time
the contest ran mentions the specifics of what the winner would receive
in note 173.30. The winner did mention he was getting further details,
but it appears they were never posted.

I'll listen tomorrow AM and post further information if they give any
along with a phone number to call for the contest.

I listened this morning. No further details on what is included
in the trip. Promos all day just mention a "Vacation for you and
your family at Walt Disney World."

How to win: Listen at 7:15 every weekday. They give you a timeframe
when they will announce it's time to call, you then need to be the
correct numbered caller. Today's time is between 12:00 and 2:00.
You need to be the 21st caller. Phone number is 617-931-1045
