165.0. "Upgrading Passports" by ERLANG::MAHONEY () Fri Feb 09 1990 15:47

    I know this has been discussed somewhere else but I don't have time
    to look for it. I am leaving for WDW in 5 days and have alot of work
    to do.

    I am wondering how the upgrade for the world passes works. We went to
    the Disney store at the Pheasant Lane Mall yesterday to get ours and
    they didn't have any 5 day passes, which is what we wanted, because
    they said there was a price increase coming up this Sunday. Well I
    figured we could just upgrade to the 5day pass when we get there.
    Then the store manager, kind of strange, started to tell me that you
    had to upgrade the same day that you buy the tickets. What would this
    accomplish? I really don't think he knew what he was talking about
    but he sure thought he did.

    I would really appreciate any insight I could get. By the way the
    4 day passes were $97.?? including tax. $92 without tax. That's with
    the MKC discount.

    What do you mean when you say "Upgrade"?

    You don't mean "Extension" do you?

165.2Four to Five day passCHET::BEAUCHESNEMon Feb 12 1990 12:4914

    	You should have no trouble upgrading/extending your pass to a five
    	day pass. We were able to do this at the Guest Relations desk at
    	the TCC. They simply took our four day pass (used), and issued us
    	a five day pass with four days cancelled on it. You may have to
    	use that fifth day on the same day - can't recall. You only pay
    	the difference in price between the four and five day pass. If
    	you still have doubts, try contacting Guest Relations directly.

    	Have Fun! (Hmmm, it's been two months since we've been back - I
    	guess it's time to start planning another trip!)

165.3To upgrade or not to upgrade?FSHQA2::LAROIANTue Aug 21 1990 12:5134
    For those of you "analytical" folks, here's a doosie question for you
    to ponder!!

    Is it "better/economical" for me to upgrade my current pass to a 4 day
    or 5 day pass or simply use what I have and buy extra single/multiple
    day passes?

    Here's the details....

    o  I hold 2 3-Day MK/Epcot only passes
    o  1 day is used - 2 days remaining
    o  Price for 3 Day MK/Epcot pass - $73.00
    o  We'd like to visit MGM - w/ or w/out children
    o My mother-in-law is traveling with us. She'd like to visit MK 1 day
    o  Also traveling w/us is our 2 1/2 and 1 year olds.  (Free !!!)
    o We're only staying in Disney (Village Resorts) for 3 nights.
    o Hubby and me would like to get out ourselves during the day (during
       mid-afternoon naps and at night
    o  Our schedule is below.

    Sunday - arrive Orlando 3:30 p.m. - check in at Disney Village Resorts
    Monday - stay in Disney
    Tuesday - stay in Disney
    Wednesday - Husband at convention - move to stay at Stouffers Sea World
    Thursday - stay at Stouffers - husband at convention
    Friday - depart for Boston 11:35 a.m.

    Any suggestions???

    I'd upgrade. If you don't use the entire pass this time around there's
    always next time?

    Besides, what if you want to revisit MGM?

165.5Upgrade or not?WOTVAX::KAYRThu Aug 23 1990 07:1434
  After giving this problem a lot of deep thought (all of 10 minutes) I
  suggest the following solution to your problem.

  First of all buy one 4 day pass and upgrade one of your current 3 day
  passes to a 5 day pass. You will then have the following.

  1) A 3 parks 5 day pass with 4 days left.

  2) A 3 parks 4 day pass with 4 days left.

  3) A 2 parks 3 day pass with 2 days left.

  Are you with me so far?

  Sunday evening. Leave the Ma-in-law with the kids and visit MGM using the
                    3 park passes. MGM is best without infants and is also
                    best at night.

  Mon & Tues. All of you visit MK & Epcot. This will use up the old
                    pass and leave 1 day on the remaining 2.

  Wednesday. Move to Stouffers and spend the rest of the day at Sea
                    World.

  Thursday. Obtain transport and return to WDW sans hubby.

  This solution avoids buying one day passes which restrict you to a
  single park.

  Hope this helps.
