32.1 | Tigger | REGENT::GALLANT | Girl, you must resist... | Mon Feb 27 1989 15:11 | 14 |
|
For quite some time now, I have been collecting tigers.
(Nooo...not REAL ones!) Stuffed tigers, tiger posters,
paintings, everything!
So when people found out how much I loved tigers, and
how much I loved Disney....well, I was dubbed....
Tigger! ...the wonderful thing about Tiggers is I'm
the only one!

32.2 | Chip 'n' Dale | SAVVAH::CASS | NH's *newest* resident! | Mon Feb 27 1989 16:24 | 2 |
| I LOVE Chip and Dale! They're my absolute favs because they're sooooo
cute!
|
32.3 | GOOFEY ALL THE WAY!! | BUSY::TBUTLER | | Mon Feb 27 1989 17:05 | 13 |
| It's got to be Goofey!! He's the best, the things that they
did to that poor Dog are incredible. You can see why Roger Rabbit
looks up to him. I was fortunate enough to meet 'The Goof', as
his closest freinds call him, on my second trip to WDW. I bought
him a martini, and he regailed me with stories of the olden days.
Well actually, I shook his hand and then he went to play with the
little kids......

32.4 | Hey Goofy!!!! | ATE012::CLAUDE | Claude G. Berube | Tue Feb 28 1989 11:06 | 12 |
| My favorite character is Goofy as well, followed by Donald Duck and
Mickey (of course), Chip and Dale although Roger Rabbit is definitely
moving up the ranks
My son favorite is Snow White, every time he see her, Daddy can you
take my picture with Snow White?
Not sure what my wife favorite is, she seems to enjoy them all,
although she does say I resemble quite a character myself when watching
any Disney Animation ;^)

32.5 | DONALD!! | HOCUS::MARON | | Tue Feb 28 1989 13:19 | 6 |
| I just adore Donald. I feel he has been cheated all of these years
by Mickey. Mick seems to steel the show all of the time. Donald
is sooooo cute and he has a nice round bottom!!

32.6 | Figaro! | FRICK::TRAVERS | | Tue Feb 28 1989 16:23 | 11 |
| My favorite is Figaro the cat from the movie Pinocchio. Each time I've
been to WDW I've searched for a stuffed animal or figurine,
to no avail - the only thing that had Figaro on it was a $1200 figure
with Geppetto, Pinocchio and Figaro. Each time I asked, the attendants
would tell me that Figaro was not a major character.
Well! This Fall my niece returned from WDW with Figaro the Cat!

Doesn't it seem that because some of the characters are
more popular (i.e. Mickey, Goofy, Donald) that they almost
HAVE to be a favorite? Now, I'm not trying to put down
anyone for liking Mickey more than any other character;
it just seems as though the other characters get jilted!
As said in the previous reply, some of the characters
aren't "major" characters and therefore don't get equal
attention. Kind of too bad since Disney has created so
many wonderful characters!
Just a thought...BTW...Goofy is my second favorite. Every
time I go to WDW, I get to dance with him and get my
picture taken, too!!
(It's a little bit of an advantage to know some behind the
scenes stuff,too!) (^8

| I know he wasn't created by Disney, but Winnie-The-Pooh is my favorite!
(You should catch the Saturday morning show if you haven't yet seen
it. The animation is fantastic! But, then, what can you expect
from Disney?!)

32.10 | A question and an answer... | ROLL::GEMMATO | | Sat Mar 04 1989 11:27 | 23 |
|
I have a combination question and answer
When I went to WDW about 13 years ago (I was nine) I met my favorite
character at WDW. I was with my parents and two sisters and my aunt and
uncle and their three kids. I ran into Mickey Mouse but he was just
swarming with kids and it was a hard time getting to him. A couple
of minutes later we ran into this walrus character who NO one was
even paying attention to. Our group went over to him and he spent
a long time teasing us and following us around I think it was
fantasyland but I'm not sure. He was so funny because we kept trying
to figure out his name and he would shake his head when we would
say like "Wally Walrus" but to this day we can't figure it out.
Does any Disney fans know what is this walrus' name??
I know this really probably was right for this category but I always
remember how much in wonder I was when a character (any character) was
giving us so much attention.
Thanks

32.11 | One vote for Dopey, one for Minnie | BMT::RIZZO | Be part of the Solution! | Sun Mar 05 1989 16:21 | 10 |
| My favorite character is Dopey. I think he is pretty smart to get
a job that makes him work all day long with Snow White, not to
mention just being at Disneyworld/land. I think at times, after
working here in New York for 3 years that Dopey probably has lots of
first cousins some of whom are my customers.
My daughter, Lauren, has many favorites, but top of her list is
Minnie. After that it is a toss up between Goofy, Mickey, and Donald,
not to mention, Huey, Dewey and Louie.

32.12 | Winnie-the-Pooh | MPGS::PELTIER | | Tue Mar 07 1989 14:15 | 7 |

Pooh cartoon this Sunday on Disney "Winnie-the-Pooh and the Blustery
Day".
Pooh is definitely my favorite !

32.13 | How do you choose just one? | DPDMAI::MATTSON | | Fri Mar 10 1989 10:07 | 5 |
| I don't know how anyone can choose just one. I would love to start
a collection of figurines of all the Disney characters. Last summer,
I brought home a figurine of Dumbo the elephant. I collect elephants,
so of course I couldn't go to WDW without bringing home Dumbo.

First let me put my Moderator hat on.
Even though this in essence is a reply to 34.46, note 34 deals with
Trip reports, and I didn't want to clutter that note with non-trip
report replys, and since this topic (#32) dealt with favorite Character
etc. I felt that the potential strings of replies that this may cause
is better suited here.
Moderator Hat off.
>I have no idea how the Disney Characters that
>posed for pictures did their jobs. I got a quick chance to talk to Chip of
>"Chip and Dale" and it said that it was "EARNING" its money today.
Huh?, How did you manage this, I was under the impression that the
Character's (animated one's, Mickey, Donald etc.) were not allowed to
talk, so as to not detrack from the experience for the little kids.
However those employess who are in costume but their face's are seen
(Snow White, Jungle Boy) were allowed to talk.
At least this has been my Experience, as well as what I was told by a
Cast Member who was asisting the characters outside of Town Hall,
something about voices not always mactching those used in the cartoons,
as well as the lips don't move when the Cast Member talk from within
the costume.

32.20 | Attendent was away! | YF23::VEALE | | Fri Jun 23 1989 11:33 | 8 |
| RE: -1
I watched poor Chip in the hot sun for about 20 minutes. The
"attendent" that was assigned to Chip stepped away for just a minute to
make sure a door in one of the buildings was unlocked for Chip's
getaway. Just at that time, was when I asked Chip about the heat. Chip
never looked at me, but a voice from within that character told me that
it was Earning its money today. When the attendent came back, Chip
spoke no more!!!

I knew it had to be something like that, the attendant/supervisor being
away.
One of the things I had always appreciated about the Disney Characters
at the park were that the full dress characters, Mickey, Donald etc
never talked, thereby keeping a certain magical mystique about them,
since it would not be the same to hear a voice come from within and no
movement of the mouth would take away from the experience, as well as
having to make sure the voice was similar to that of the cartoon voice.
Once while taking a picture of my son with Snow White, she had asked if
the pose was alright, and I had no problem with it since it seemed
natural seeing an actual face to tie the voice to.
The time I had gone to Wonderland outside of Toronto, where they have
the Hanna Barbara characters, there they would speak and it just isn't
the same as with the Disney characters.

Why has nobody mentioned Pluto, he is the cutest of all!!!
We danced for a good few minutes in his garden in the Magic Kingdom
in May when we were over there. I just had to go and buy a large
Pluto to bring home to remind me!!
Tigger comes a close second - he is so bouncy and fun - but Pluto
wins hands down!!

I would have to say that Pluto is my sons favorite. While we were
staying at the Contemporary last October we ate at the character buffet
every day either breakfast or dinner. My son still talks about how
Pluto kept licking his face.

32.29 | D.D. and the "Tink" | GUIDUK::KRUG | Der Krug geht so lange... | Wed Jul 04 1990 03:18 | 10 |
| I agree with a previous reply that Donald is a great character! I
love the way he throws tantrums and blows up over things inanimate
objects "do" to him. Maybe I see some of myself in him.
I also like Tinkerbell and the way she pouts. She certainly seems
human. There was an article in "Disney News" last year about
using a model for Tinkerbell animation.
I haven't collected figures, but I have Donald and Tinkerbell
pins.

32.30 | CHIP & DALE.....chocolate chip cookies | BUFFER::WESTON | | Fri Apr 05 1991 14:26 | 22 |
|
My favorite is CHIP & DALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They crack me UP! They are so silly, as well as cuddly and cute!
When we stayed at FT. Wilderness, we saw the campfire show and Chip &
Dale entertained us. Ahead of time, the host said Chip would come to
you, if you had Chocolate CHIP cookies! So me and my step-daughter
went to buy a whole bag! When Chip came by he was so excited to get
the whole bag!
Later that nite -- we went on the Canoe ride there and the parks people
sat in which a crew of 13. Well, this parks person (a girl) said that
she spoke to Chip earlier and he was so happy with the person that gave
him the BIG bag of Chocolate Chip cookies. I turned around and she
winked at me. It had been her! Real neat! Boy did I feel like a big
kid!
I always will...............

32.32 | Minnie! | PHDVAX::MCGLINCHEY_J | John McGlinchey | Sun Apr 07 1991 16:39 | 14 |
| Well, back in January I had the pleasure of taking my 4 year old
daughter with me when I went to teach my seminar in Orlando. Each day,
after I was done with the students, we went to DW. Each day she asked
"Are we going to see Minnie today? Please Daddy?". When a 4 year old
looks up that way at you, you just melt. When we went to see Mickey at
his dressing room in Mickey's Starland she even asked Him "Where's
Minnie?". The third day we went to MGM and as we turned a corner,
there was Minnie. Minne knelt down and put her arms out as Lizzie ran
at least 30 yards into her arms as I grabbed a camera. Lizzie was
wearing an identical dress as minnie that day (by luck, as you know,
Father's do not know how to dress little girls!)
SO for now, Minnie gets our vote. :^)
