535.0. "Royal Majesty meets Hurricane Felix" by SOLVIT::JAFFE () Tue Aug 22 1995 10:26
I am sure that many of you have been watching the reports this past
week on the Royal Majesty cruise from Boston to Bermuda during the
Hurrican Felix run. My family and I were on that cruise, our first, and
it was just WONDERFUL.
Some people just like to complain, about anything and everything. They
fail to consider that prices are low on this type of cruise in August
because there just might be a storm or hurricane brewing. In light of
the uncertainties of tracking Felix, I tought Royal Majesty did a
super job of keeping everyone safe and as happy as possible. Despite
going to the Bahamas instead of Bermuda and facing 25 to 30 foot seas
the last 2 days comming home, and making port in NYC and taking busses
back to Boston, the trip was great. The food was the best I have ever
had, the service 1st class all the way and the entertainment varied
with always something to do. My 3 teens had a ball, we almost never saw
them.
Consider this. Had I booked a flight on Sunday from Boston to Bermuda,
and had reservations in a hotel, the flight wood have taken me there
and I would have spent 7 days in Bermuda with rain, wind, no
electricity, and no way to get home. On the ship, we stayed out of
harms way, at least for the 1st 5 days, were treated royally, and kept
safe. Perhaps we should have ported in Miami and get flown up to Boston
instead of trying to make it back with the boat, but its hard to make
these second guesses not haveing all the information.
I say "BOO" to all the complainers who see the half empty glass instead
of the half full one. I have some wonderful memories and great stories
to tell, and sort of miss the turned down bed and piece of chocolate on
my pillow at night.

| And just think of the discount they are now offering for your next
cruise (or the cash back).

| Any idea as to how to find out what the deal is? On board, they offered
a 300 per cabin coupon towards a next cruise on Royal Majesty. Since
then I heard on the news that it is now 300 cash per cabin and that
they are going to return the 100 per person port charge they added into
the ticket price to land in Bermuda vs the low port chage to land in
the Bahamas. Considering everything, I can wind up having had a great
time for a week with my family of 5 for $3,800 total. What a great
deal.
