486.0. "RCCL Mega Ships July Itinerary?" by EARRTH::DREYER (Make new friends, but keep the old!) Tue Mar 08 1994 09:14

Does anyone know what the itineraries will be for the R.C.C.L. mega ships
this July? Any idea of the true prices for outside standard rooms? We'd need
three rooms for two, and one room for three. Would booking 4 rooms get us any
additional discounts?

I know it's late to be thinking about this, but due to circumstances we're
going to have to wait until just a couple of weeks before departure.

Thanks for any info!

Regards,
Laura

I believe the three largest ships run the same route all year.
Majesty of Seas is Western Caribbean, Sovereign is Eastern and
    Monarch is Southern.

The smaller ships typically reposition to other routes.
Song of America to Bermuda from NY, the other three, at least
one to Alaska and usually two to Europe. The Nordic Empress 3/4
nighters from Miami would not change.

RCCL does have orders for three new mega ships which will probably
be used for Europe, around the world etc. I know at least one or
two are confirmed and the third is an option which is normal.
These ships are expected to have larger rooms on average than
their current ships. RCCL in general has small cabins than most
    lines.

I believe 4 rooms is not enough for a RCCL discount, I know 10 and
maybe 5 would get you some. But 4 rooms is definite strong
leverage with a travel agent to adjust there prices and maybe
combine you with other people for same date. Because of your
large number I would definetely shop around. You should be able
to do better than a single or double room booking. But if you
have to wait till 2 weeks before departure then you could
end up with a good deal or a very lousy deal.

If you have to wait till 2 weeks before departure then you will
have to be flexible on ships etc. You will probably not get 4
cabins next to each other etc. Any time a room requires 3/4 people
you typically narrow the choices a lot. You will probably have
to do air separate and not use the air/sea package.
