478.0. "Guaranteed low rates work!" by LEDDEV::CULLISON () Mon Nov 22 1993 09:22
As many of you know a lot of cruise lines guarantee that
if you book early and the rate goes down later they will
refund the difference. Well it looks like they mean business
at least in one case for us.
I booked a one week cruise on Holland America's Noordam for
Jan. 30, 94. The rate we were quoted included at pretty
good discount of about 36% off of brochure rate. We originally
booked the cruise in early October. Last week my phone rang
and the travel agent informed me that the price of our
cruise dropped almost $400 because the rate had been lowered.
It seems more and more that the cruise lines are trying to
reward those that book early now. Years ago especially when
the economy first took the plunge it looked like those who
booked early were rewarded with paying very high prices.
