461.0. "Thomas Cook rises to the Challenge!" by ISLNDS::FAUST_CLANCY ("In God We Trust, Others Pay Cash") Mon Aug 09 1993 10:37

    To be fair...........

This morning I received a phone call from Customer Service at Thomas
Cook in Maynard. It seems that SOMEONE (not me!) printed out a copy
of my note 460.0 and sent it to Thomas Cook. At first I was miffed
that Thomas Cook had access to Digital's Notes Files (!!!) but then
the Customer Service Rep explained to me that someone had sent it to
her in the mail. BTW, her name is Devon and she is reachable at
800-374-5858 PRESS 2 for anyone who has complaints about Thomas Cook.

She told me about a "value book" that Thomas Cook offers DEC employees
that has coupons good for $50.00 off a land package or air package
booked with Thomas Cook. I haven't received the coupon book yet, but
when I do, I'll create a new listing for that. These coupons are
what Thomas Cook offers to DEC employees rather than discounts....

She had been in touch with the personal travel agent I was using to
get quotes for my Meditterranean cruise and is doing her best to find
out why Thomas Cook can't give a DEC employee the cheapest price
FIRST instead of having that employee run around and get a million
    quotes....

    Stay tuned!

People who forward notes to outside businesses could easily cause
the shutdown of the notes conference ! At the very least edit out
    the name and phone number.

This is an example of why most conferences do not allow the mention
of company names when discussing quality of service. If the note makes
it to the outside world, DIGITAL, not the author of the note, may be
held for LIBEL of SLANDER. Be very careful when discussing different
vendors. Especially if you are not giving a favorable report!

The notes I have entered have been to share information with
other Digital employees with a common interest in cruising.
To send a note outside of Digital without the author's
permission, makes me wonder if I want to enter any more
cruise reports or thoughts in this file...
