Just my opinion...
I think a gift cerificate to a romantic restaurant is a great idea for
a gift. But I don't think I'd do it for someone who is on a cruise.
Why? Well, for one thing all the meals are already paid for on the
ship. Also, since you really do not know their itinerary or what
they'll have planned for each day, going to a restaurant may not fit
in.
What I'd do is give them a certificate to a romantic restaurant they
can use when they get home, when all the excitement from the trip is
over. It would really be something to look forward to. Then, you
don't have to worry about how to give them the certificate, if they
really get it...etc.
If you'd like to do something for them on their trip, have a bottle of
wine sent to their table or cabin.
Hope it helps.

| Well, I already know that eventhough the ship acts as a hotel, the
groom is considering making reservations at one of the smaller hotels
for just 1 night that they are docked in Bermuda so I thought the
dinner would also be a little diversion from the ship. These are
VERY good friends of mine and I know that they would think this would
be GREAT especially since all their other meals will be on the ship.
There is no doubt in my mind that they would like to try a Bermuda
restaurant since who knows when they will be back there?!
They can go to a local restaurant anytime!

| I agree with Joe. They had better be really, really GOOD friends because
a meal in a Bermuda restaurant is going to cost about $150-$200. That much
money back here can buy a helluva lot more............ Isn't kind of a waste
considering all their meals are paid for already???? I like the idea of
having champagne delivered to their room with some flowers and a personal
note, maybe even the gift certicate enclosed.
I would contact the cruise line or the travel agent they are using and ask
them how to proceed. It will probably involve using the ships' concierge
or "purser". Be prepared to include a "tip" for the purser for this service.
You have a very romantic imagination!
(You can't be married.....)

| Well, I did get them a gift certificate to a restaurant in Bermuda and
the $100 covered the meal and the couple said the food was out of this
world. They LOVED the idea, LOVED the restaurant and LOVED the maitre'
de. They even have him on video saying hi to me and inviting me to
"come on down" which we are planning to do with this couple next year!
I knew this couple would go to a restaurant in Bermuda once they docked
there--if for no other reason, than to be alone! I worked this all
directly through the maitre' de at the restaurant. He sent me a gift
certificate which did arrive in time and billed my Visa account. This
guy was sooooooo great that he even offered to bill me (not my Visa)
after the fact. And if the certificate didn't arrive on time, he told
me to just tell this couple to go to the restaurant and ask for him and
he would take care of everything. As a matter of fact, when they did
arrive there and said who they were, he immediately said, "oh Carol's
couple!"
Yes, I am VERY romantic, no not married, but was once and I was
romantic then too!!!!!! I try to think of things to do for other
people that I would want done for me. Works every time!
