352.0. "Quick Question RE: Room Selection" by BUFFER::EARLEY () Mon Mar 09 1992 18:33

    Hi,

    I am interested in learning whether one's room selection
    (i.e. suite, state room, etc.) provides one with special
    amenities - that is, are there more privileges/amenities
    offered to one who books a suite v. a state room.....or
    is it a case of just paying for a bit more space?

    ....I am particularly interested with regard to the
    Holland America line...

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Thanks.

352.1Selections make no differenceBSS::WALTERSMon Mar 16 1992 10:2518
    Hi,

    I've cruised with NCL a couple of times. The room category
    does not give any special privileges. You get the same
    services, same shows, no special treatment for seating.

    We've always went the cheapest we could because all we
    did in the stateroom was sleep. Also, we had been told by
    seasoned travelers that the rooms located on the lowest
    desks toward the center of the ship were the most stable
    during choppy seas.

    We've always been happy with our room selections and have
    always been treated like royalty.

    Hope this helps,

    Kitty
352.2Holland American CabinsWMOIS::BARDSLEYMon Mar 16 1992 11:3013
    Hi,

    I have traveled on Holland Ameriacan cruise lines on 3 different trips.
    I have stayed in 3 different areas of the ship and I can tell you that
    you get the same privileges regardless of the price you have paid. I
    think you would make a excellent choice in picking Holland American.
    They are the best!!!! My next cruise will probable be in about 11/2
    years from now and I know that I will book the lowest price cabin
    because the service is the same. Have a great time. P.S. I have been
    on 7 cruises in all and I always will book the value season and lowest
    cabin. Belive me you won't sleep much, to much to see and do.
    Cruising is the best vacation I have ever done.
