Hello Fellow Cruise Travel Noters, I was wondering if any of you folks out there had heard anything (positive or negative) about the DOLPHIN Cruise ship OCEANBREEZE. This ship is supposed to make it's Inaugral Cruise in the May/June 1992 timeframe. We are interested in taking their 7 night Panama Canal Cruise (ports of call include Cartagena, The Panama Canal, San Blas Islands, and Curacao). This will be my third cruise, but my first cruise on the DOLPHIN cruise lines. My first two cruises were on CARNIVAL's MARDI GRAS (1986) and TROPICALE (1990). I know it's early to ask this question, since the ship hasn't even gone into service yet, but I figured "why not"? I know that I will be able to get the 'real scoop' once the boat sets sail in May/June 1992. Thanks! /Lisa

I went to a Dolphin seminar a few weeks ago and got the brochure and itineraries for this ship. It is currently the Admiral Lines AZURE SEAS. Dolphin plans to dry dock her for two weeks and refurbish before their initial sailing. I toured her in Ft. Lauderdale about a year ago. This was an older ship, clean but not fancy. The new itineraries look really interesting to me. By sailing out of Aruba you can get that partial canal excursion and hit Curacao too! I hope to get on it this fall. -jer | |||||

I should have entered this a while ago, but just haven't had the chance. My wife and I were on the Oceanbreeze 11/19/95 - 12/3/95. We did the Southern Caribbean route and then the Panama Canal route. I am not going to due a report because the Oceanbreeze won't be doing those routes after April 96 and they are pretty much sold out through then. If someone needs specific information on this ship or these routes feel free to E-mail me or ask questions. With regards to Dolphin Cruise Lines I will say this: They may be a discount line, but they are still my cruise line of choice. I've been on HAL, RCCL, Dolphin, and Carnival. As long as you don't mind being on an older, classic ship, Dolphin is the way to go. Cruise staff. officers, and passengers are far more friendly, the food and service is as good as anyone (even HAL when they were indeed something special), there are no lines, plenty of activities, and I could go on and on. You just are not going to find 7 story atriums, retractable roofs, champagne bars, and all the glitter and glamour one can consume. Brad |
