| Check out Holland America. I think they are offering a program where
3rd and 4th person in a cabin go for free. I'm not sure about the
particulars.

| Most cruise lines have a plan where the 3rd/4th/5th person in the cabin
go for the going fare.
Drinks cost from about $2.50 and up, they seemed to be rather light
on the liquor though. There are always special drinks that don't
follow the normal pricing.
RCCL has a teenage program for your son, includes special times in the
disco, etc. (no extra charges for this - for your husband's benefit).
I'm not sure where the Labadee stop has been rescheduled to since I
still was able to spend the day on Labadee, went on the cruise last
June.
The Norway, since being reburbished, has been said to feel somewhat
crowded. The Sovereign didn't feel that crowded for over 2000
passengers.

Hi Ann,
My wife and I sailed on the Norway last year and had a
wonderful time (see note 261 for a report). Even with more cabins
(= more passengers?) we didn't feel crowded at all. The ship is so
large that a few more people really didn't matter much.
As for shore excursions.... yes they can be pricey. We
took the bus tour of St. Maarten and the tour of St. Thomas.
The St. Maarten tour wasn't all that great... we ended up in
Marigot, on the French side, during siesta (or whatever they call
it) time and almost everything was closed. The island is very
pretty and the guide was quite knowledgable though. The St. Thomas
tour stopped at all the usual places, Drakes seat, The Mountaintop
and Bluebeards castle... very crowded places since the day the
Norway is there, four other ships are in port also. Neither one
of the tours was that expensive though... maybe $15-$20 apiece for
2-3 hours.
I know that the Norway has a childrens program but I'm not
sure of the age limits. I do remember them having a special teens
only party in the disco though. I have been on the Norway three
times and have found that the teens all seem to find each other
and hang out together. As I recall, the only place on the ship
with a minimum age was the disco at night and the casino.
I would suggest a stop by your friendly local travel agent
and pick up the NCL book. They have pretty good descriptions of
the ship and all the on-board activities. You can also call NCL
direct (800 number in their book). I have called them several
times and they were very helpful.
If I can provide anything further, you can drop me a note
at TPTRNG::SIMPSON.

| I'd like to continue this note by asking for people's experiences and
recommendations on Shore Excursions (and costs, if you remember) for
1. Nassau
2. San Juan
3. St. Thomas/St. John
I'm booked for the Sovereign at those ports of call September 12-18. It will
be my first cruise, but my wife's second.
Thanks!
Bill
