326.2 | Black Falcon Terminal | FSTVAX::SIMPSON | | Mon Oct 21 1991 16:49 | 8 |

The Monarch will be docked at the Black Falcon Terminal in
South Boston. Take the South Station exit from the Southeast
Expressway and turn toward the water. Go straight past South
Station and there are supposed to be signs. If I get any better
directions, I'll post them here.

326.3 | How can I get tickets? | LEDS::ROCHE | | Tue Oct 22 1991 09:30 | 7 |

I am booked to sail the Monarch in January and would like to check out
the ship. Does anyone know where I can get some tickets or could I
show up with my Confirmation/Itinerary from RCCL?
Thanks,
Rick

326.4 | Call agent.. | LUNER::DOIRON | | Tue Oct 22 1991 15:00 | 9 |
| Rick,
I called my travel agent and she sent me the tickets. If your already
booked, why don't you call the agent that booked the cruise for you.
I would think out of courtesy they would try to get you tickets to tour
the ship. Give it a try.

326.6 | Any particulars about tour? | LUNER::DOIRON | | Fri Oct 25 1991 11:11 | 14 |
| I have tickets also and now am wondering how they are controlling the
people. Are they going to have so many go as a group or are we allowed
to wonder??? I can't get there till around noontime. Anyone have any
particulars. Also I noticed on my ticket that my ticket agent put their
telephone number on the part you submit for the drawing. I'm going to
put mine on there also. Wonder why they didn't put my phone number?
This is awful, but I said to my husband, whose to say if we were sooooo
lucky to win, that if they called the travel agent that the agent did
what they wanted with it? Maybe I'm all wet, but I question things
like this. Hubby laughed and said, "leave it to you to think about that".
Oh, well, .....

326.7 | Scratch out their number | FSTVAX::SIMPSON | | Fri Oct 25 1991 14:23 | 7 |
|
My agent left that part of the ticket for me to fill in. If she
hadn't, I would have scratched out their number and put my own.
Why should they get the cruise (if I win....). You can bet that
they wouldn't give it to you!!

326.8 | Toured Monarch | LUNER::DOIRON | | Mon Oct 28 1991 09:28 | 7 |
| Well, toured the Monarch on Saturday. Two hour wait to get in and
about 40 minutes to tour. What a ship! Boy, I was impressed. Lots
of people were saying they were going to book it. Think I might in
1993. Thinking about it. Anyone else have any inputs.

326.9 | Great Ship! | FSTTOO::SIMPSON | | Mon Oct 28 1991 10:39 | 17 |
|
We thought the ship was absolutely beautiful. The public areas were
very open and airy. I would not want to be the person in charge of
polishing all of the brass! The dining room was very open and bright
and the casino was quite large. The carpeting in the casino had small
lights imbedded in it which provided a very cheerful effect. There
seemed to be plenty of open deck space and the pool area was great!
The lower priced cabins seemed a little smaller than what I have seen
elsewhere. The category C/D rooms were roomy and the private baclony
was very nice. They were very similar to the junior suites on the SS
Norway (we stayed in one on the Norway last February).
All in all, we thought it was a great ship. Looked like a great place
for a vacation.

326.10 | Very nice | CIVIC::WHALEN | | Mon Oct 28 1991 11:03 | 12 |
| My husband and I also toured the Monarch on Saturday and thought it
was beautiful (we waited in line for 1 1/2 hours!)
The casino was huge (and really pretty). The carpeting (with the
lights weaved into it) was unbelievable. I too agree with Reply #9,
the rooms were alittle smaller than the 2 other ships I've been
on (NCL's Norway and Seaward). All in all though, we liked the ship.
Would love to write that I WON the cruise, but that's just a dream....

326.12 | More on the Monarch | ODIXIE::PFLANZ | | Wed Nov 13 1991 11:55 | 16 |
| I was fortunate enough to get to visit this ship here in Ft.
Lauderdale. I also agree that it is quite impressive. The fiber
optics in the casino carpet is very unique.
I was really appalled at the condition of the ship, though. There were
cigarette burns in many of the carpets. There was much more rust and
off color paint than I would expect for a new ship. I guess they have
a week to get ready for a maiden voyage. The CEO for RCCL was
interviewed on TV last week. He stated that the ship was not quite
ready when it left for New York. They used the voyage to finish up. I
guess a lot of this damage is due to the open houses over the previous
weekends.
While the showroom looked impressive, I specifically looked at it from
the second level. Many seats have views blocked by pillars and many
only have a view of part of the stage.
