| I went on NCL in May and one of the guys at my table worked for NCL as
one of the ship's drummers. He was vacationing (yes, he took a
cruise!!) Anyway, he had some very good things to say about Costa and
recommended this line for my next cruise. He said that the staff is
very attentive to the passenger's needs, especially when they are alone
like I was. On NCL, I felt that the staff did just the minimum,
especially for meals. The officers and staff did not mingle with the
passengers until the last night, and that was because there was a
Norweigan holiay and they had had a few. I mentioned to this man that
I expected to be pampered more and he guy said that the Costa officers
really make sure the "independent" passangers have a good time and it
is a very different atmosphere from the cruise I took.
I'm curious now about the replies you get to this note and if you
decide to go with Costa, please let me know how you made out.

| Regarding your questions on the Costa Classica..... My husband is
a sales rep for Cruises Inc. and we have taken many cruises.
Our cruise last summer on the Costa Riviera was by far one of our
favorites. Even thought we have sailed on many of the new and
glitzy ships - you cannot beat Cosat for the on-board ambiance,
great food and tremendous service. Costa is my favorite lines and
I'm thrilled to see that they will be sending thru new ships
starting with the Classica in Feb 1991 and two more are scheduled
for 1992 and 1993. We are planning to cruise on the Classica
along with some friends next Easter.
Our cruise on the "Riviera" included all age groups...there was
not a concentration of any particular group whether it be teen-
agers or senior citizens. There may have been quite a number of
children on board but that is to be expected during the summer
vacation months.
My husband has some great rates on all the Costa ships and
especially on the Classica. We have discounted sailing dates
two each per month alternating between the Eastern & Western
Caribbean itineraries.
Prices range between $864 to $927 for a Catagory 2 Inside Cabin
$1008 to $1167 for a Category 4 Inside Cabin
$1158 to $1320 for a Category 6 Inside Cabin
$1215 to $1411 for a Category 9 Outside Cabin
$1260 to $1459 for a Category 10 Outside Cabin
Prices vary depending on the season and sailing dates - All prices
include airfare with port taxes additional.
If anyone is interested in further information, brochure or pricing
send me a Decmail - Kathy Shield @EJO.
