267.0. "<WONDERFUL TIME HAD BY ALL READY FOR NEXT CRUISE>" by DELNI::V_BROWN () Mon Mar 11 1991 14:47

    Just returned to work today after a wonderful week cruising
    on the Horizon.

    We had a wonderful time. As I mentioned a couple of months
    ago, I was worried about being seasick. The first couple
    of days the ship did move a bit. I took Bonine which didn't
    work for me. I then put on the patch that I had prescribed
    by my doctor. Didn't have any more problems after that
    although patch does have some uncomfortable side effects.

    We went to Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, Puerto Rico,
    St. Thomas and also St. John. St. Lucia and St. John are my
    favorite.

    This was our first cruise so I have nothing to compare with. We
    both thought that the Horizon was a great ship with great service.
    People were so friendly, food gourmet and endless. Entertainment
    was for the most part excellent. The only problem we encountered
    was the first night they gave us first seating after we had
    requested second. After an altercation with the maitre de, the
    next night they gave us our original request of second sitting.

    My biggest problem now is how long does this land sickness last.
    I am so dizzy today. My legs feel as though I am on a ship?

    We loved the Horizon and would definitely cruise again on it.

267.1Is bigger the ship better?VIA::MORAROSMon Mar 11 1991 16:4011

    What line is the Horizon with? How many tons is the ship? I am going
    on the ECSTASY by Carnival in Aug, and I am real worried about getting
    sea sick. The ship is over 70,000 tons, I hope I won't have a problem.

    I have heard conflicting stories about the patches, some people say
    they work great and others say they have bad side effects, what type
    of side effects do they have?

    Thanks.
    Kim
267.2The Horizon is great...CECV03::FRANKLINMon Mar 11 1991 16:466
    So glad to hear you loved your cruise and The Horizon. We sailed the
    Horizon last summer to Bermuda and we are looking forward to sailing
    her again this summer. Anybody looking for a great cruise should
    definitely try her out.

    I get very dry mouth from the patch. It still beats nausea.

267.4<WEAR THE PATCH AND ENJOY!!!>DELNI::V_BROWNTue Mar 12 1991 09:2716
    The Horizon is the Chandris Celebrity Cruise. It is 45,000 tons. It
    was not really rough. The first couple of days it did rock a little.
    It doesn't take much for me. The patch gave me a bad taste and very
    dry mouth but I would rather that than nausea. It is a beautiful ship
    and I am told that the staterooms are larger than most ships.

    Some people on board the ship got a bracelet from the doctor. I don't
    know if that is mind over matter or what. I think I might try one
    in the future though. I heard that it is put on wrist at acupuncture
    point and helps against nausea.

    Enjoy your cruise. I wish I was going again.

267.5Ecstacy = FantasyDNEAST::STEVENS_JIMWed Mar 13 1991 14:2618
    Re:.1 Kim Moraros

    My wife and I went on the inaugural(SP?) voyage of the Fantasy last
    year. The Fantasy is the sister ship of the Ecstasy which goes into
    service in June of this year.

    Don't worry about seasickness on a 70,000+ ton ship. The only thing
    you'll notice, and that's if you really concentrate, is a slight
    vibration under your feet when your sitting someplace. The only
    place I really noticed it was in the Grand Ballroom.

    I have a picture of the Ecstacy and some artists renditions of the
    inside...It looks beutiful and is very similar to the Fantasy.

    I think you'll enjoy the ship.
