256.0. "NCL ship size?" by JUPITR::OTENTI () Fri Feb 01 1991 10:02

    have a question to ask..i am looking into the specials listed
    in the note previous to this one..and due to it including airfare
    i'm "looking" at NCL..just looking...all i know about cruising
    is the one boat i was on and it wasn't even a cruise..just a 3
    hour tour..(you know, like gilligan!)...but anyways..i was on the
    Sea Escape out of Florida and thought it a pretty small ship...
    would someone be able to tell me if the NCL ships the Skyward and
    Seaward are much bigger or the same size as this ship??

    thanks

    HI! YEAR BEFORE LAST I TOOK A 10-DAY CRUISE WITH MY HUSBAND ON THE
    SKYWARD....NEVER AGAIN ! THE ROOM WAS SO SMALL WE COULDN'T MOVE!
    THE BED WAS THE SIZE OF A SMALL TWIN BED. WE ASKED TO BE PUT INTO A
    LARGER CABIN; HOWEVER, THE SHIP WAS BOOKED SOLID. IF I WERE YOU, I
    WOULD LOOK INTO GOING ON THE SONG OF NORWAY...THOSE CABINS ARE GOOD
    SIZE. I TRULY WOULD DISCOURAGE YOU FROM GOING ON THE SKYWARD.

RE: .1

Well, I agree with .1 about the size of the cabin but I also have to say that
our experience on the Starward (sister of the Skyward) was fantastic. It was
one of the most fun cruises we've taken and I attribute that to the fact that
there were not thousands of people on board, so faces looked familiar, people
on the whole were friendly, cruise staff came to know people by name...etc.

I would not hesitate to book on that ship again. As a matter of fact based on
the 2 for 1 program I'm really tempted. Somebody have a few extra dollars
they'd like to contribute to the 'Send Mr. Moderator on a Cruise Foundation'?

256.3Travel Agent Helps!!!WSMVAX::CLIFTONWHERE_IS_THE_NEXT_RACE!Mon Feb 04 1991 10:038
    I would say that the best advice I could give on a cruise is to get a
    very good travel agent who knows the cruise lines. We have traveled on
    3 different line and all have their merits. Sometimes, if you can book
    6 months ahead, you can get an upgrade in cabins. Check with your
    travel agent for the different line advance booking polices, you could
    get a bigger room or save yourself some money.

256.4SS Norway is huge!FSTVAX::SIMPSONMon Feb 04 1991 12:1612

    	I have cruised on the SS Norway twice and have found that some of
    the cabins are definitely small. However, if you do some checking, you
    will find that most of their cabins are a comfortable size.

    	The SS Norway has reclaimed the title of "Largest Cruise Ship" and
    I think rightly so. It is almost 1100 feet long (longer than a
    battleship) and weighs 73,000 tons. I like this ship so much, that
    I am leaving this Saturday for a third trip on it.

    	Find a good travel agent and take a good close look at all
    of the information available..... you'll find something you like.
