245.1 | close to the maiden voyage... | ACESMK::HIGGINS | | Wed Dec 05 1990 11:16 | 10 |
| I have the latest brochure on the Monarch - if you would like a copy.
The only word of caution I would give you - often times "maiden
voyage" dates get pushed out. I hate to upset your plans but
you may want to discuss alternatives just in case. I have not
heard anything about the Monarch date being moved - but I do warn
people about booking close to maiden voyage dates.

| Thanks for the good information..... I checked with the travel agency
and I can get a better confirmation on the confirmed date of the
maiden voyage 45 days (the time that I must pay for th cruise). If
it looks like it is not confirmed, then we will cancel.
I got c opy of the brochure from the travel agency... looks like a
great ship. I will enter a report after our trip.

245.5 | Monarch delayed!!!
| MUTT::DANIEL | THE ANSWER IS 42 | Mon Dec 17 1990 14:39 | 8 |
| We just returned from a cruise on the Soverign of the Seas. It was
a wonderful trip, but thats another story.
During the repeaters party we discovered that the Monarch had caught
fire in the shipyard and has sustained major structural damage. RCCL doesn't
have any word on when the Monarch will be delievered.
If I get any more info I will post it here.

245.6 | MONARCH CRUISES CANCELLED | BSS::KLAMON | | Wed Dec 19 1990 12:20 | 18 |
| Well, I just got a call from the Travel Agency that booked my cruise,
and, YES the Monarch of Seas caught on fire during construction, and
all cruises for 1990 have been cancelled. Just my luck, After having
quadruplets (two boys and two girls) 14 months ago, my wife and I
decided to take a much needed vacation. We opted to take a cruise,
selected a ship and the date, paid the deposit, started counting the
days.... and look what happens. But as a consolation here is the deal,
anyone who has booked a cruise on the Monarch and paid a deposit will get
the following:
- Early booking discount on any RCCL cruise
- A $250 per cabin discount in addition to the early booking discount
- A $250 per cabin on-board credit
- A $500 discount on a future cruise
Not too bad, but I was looking forward to cruising on the Monarch.
Oh Well....

Sooner or later the ship will be built. You'll get you chance.
And between quads and the RCCL cruise bug, you'll get to go.
I can never understand _HOW_ a cruise line can make money if at any
time if there is _somthing_ , ANYTHING that goes wrong they bend over
backwards to keep you happy and a return client.

( Hi Joe, sorry we missed the SOS DEC Cruise, wife went and bought a
