Snap decision, off to Bermuda! After reading this conference, I couldn't stand it any longer! Cam home, and told my wife to start packing, called the travel agent and we're done, departing NY in 10 days for a week of :-) Now the questions: Anyone been on the new Celebrity Horizon? I believe her maiden voyage was just 6 weeks ago How about Celebrity lines in general; I believe they're Chandris' attempt to go upscales (a bit) How about Bermuda cruise experiences? I seen many comments about the ships which go there, but what would folks suggest about spending 2 days around Hamilton, and 2 days around St. Georges. It's been about 10 years since I was in Bermuda ( at the Southhampton Princess), and although I've been on several ships (Fairsky/Sky Princess, Skyward, Oceanic, and the QE2 tied up for DECworld), this will be my first cruise with my (9 and 5 year old) kids. Comments welcome. Steve

216.3 | It's great!! I went! | WUMBCK::WELCH | Thu Oct 04 1990 10:33 | 25
I went on the Horizon the Bermuda the week of September 8. It was absolutely wonderful. The ship is beautiful, big, and there is so much to do. There are twelve floors, two pools, three hot tubs, 8 clubs and a lot more. The cabins are the nicest I've ever seen on a ship. The bathroom was roomy, and it had a separate shower. The food on the ship was excellent. I thought it would be good, but I never though it would be as good as it was. I could go on for hours if I wanted to. The four days in Bermuda were great too. We stayed in Hamilton for two days, then we went to St. Georges. In Hamilton, we were docked on Front street, which is the main street in Bermuda. That is where all the night life is. We rented motor bikes and went to Elbow beach one day, and Horseshoe bay the next. They are both beautiful beaches, but I preferred Elbow beach. It is much more private then Horseshoe bay. The next two days in St. Georges were fun too, but I preferred Hamilton. St. Georges has a lot of cute little shops and brick sidewalks right on the water. It's pretty. The beaches there are not as nice, but they are great for snorkeling. In St. Georges, everyone goes to Tobacco bay and rents snorkel equipment. There are hundred of fish swimming all around. I stayed in the water the whole time. I'm planning on going on anther cruise next year, and it will probably be on the Horizon again. I'm convinced that there isn't another ship as nice as this one.
216.4 | WOULD YOU SHARE COST? | WMOIS::JETTE | Fri Oct 05 1990 11:58 | 6
Do you mind sharing how much it costs? I am looking to go on my first cruise next year and am trying to gather all the information I can in order to make a good decision. Thanks!
216.5 | Price not bad... | MANFAC::STOPAR | Tue Oct 16 1990 13:07 | 10
The cruise we booked for December 15 goes to the southern caribbean. We were able to book level 10 rooms for about 1000.00 /person. We thought that was a good price considering we just took the RCCL Nordic Empress in August to the Bahamas and spent about the same for a 4 day cruise. This one is 7-days. We can't wait to see Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Thomas and San Juan. (2 more months and counting) |
