209.0. "Fantasy Report" by JAIMES::HOWE () Tue May 08 1990 13:36

    My 11-year old and I just returned from a cruise on the
    Fantasy and we had a good time --- Although I wouldn't
    write home about the shore excursions ---some of the
    people found them too expensive for what you get.

    The food was good and the service was fine. The crowd was a
    mixture of people and there was no rowdiness. We heard from
    other cruisers that Carnival's Mardi Gras had a reputation
    as a really rowdy ship.

    I would recommend anyone going that if you are even slightly
    prone to seasickness, get yourself a cabin on Riviera forward.
    This was our first cruise and we were surprised at how the ship
    can sway even in what looked like calm waters and sunny days.

    Several people we talked to complained about movement and they
    were on the upper level decks such as the Empress.

    On the last day, we went up to the top on the Sports deck to sit
    in the indoor spa and I couldn't take the swaying. Once we got
    on the Lido deck, I was fine and fine in my cabin. We noticed
    several people were wearing patches.

    All in all, I had a great time and would recommend a cruise on
    this ship.

    Ann, what you say about swaying is interesting.

    At first, you could feel the normal side to side rocking, until
    you get your sealegs...After that, I hardly noticed it. I was on
    the Mardi Gras in 1984, now that ship swayed.

    Nassau is the pits...........

    Glad you enjoyed the ship....

209.2I liked the rocking!!AKOV12::KELLYMon May 14 1990 14:278
    How was the ship itself?? Is it as magnificent as I heard it was???

    re the ship rocking, I actually thought it was kind of fun when the
    ship rocked (I went on the Festivale for New Years, which is one of the
    smallest and oldest ships in Carnival's fleet). And I felt like I was
    being rocked to sleep at night.....

    What ports does the Fantasy stop at besides Nassau??

    Read note 155 (I think).

    Nassau and Freeport, both in the Bahamas...It only goes on 3 and 4 day
    cruises. Too bad, 3 or 4 days is just not enough time...
