191.1 | last October was great! | SHALOT::VARNER | It's all in the attitude | Wed Feb 21 1990 07:23 | 13 |
| I went on a cruise the first week in October, 1989, and the weather
was wonderful!! Our cruise stopped in St. Thomas, San Juan and RCCL's
private island. Although Hurricane Hugo had just been through the
area, the seas were not particularly rough, and the temp was in the
high 70s to low 80s every day. It didn't rain at all during the week,
either.
If Sept-Oct is a good time for you to go, I would go ahead, because
you just can't really plan for a hurricane. If you'd rather not take a
chance, then maybe you should go some other time.
Hope this helps,
Brenda

| Yes, October may be hurricane season in the Caribbean but there are
many other places in the world to cruise if that concerns you. I'd
look into other possibilities if it worrys you alot. How about the
Mexican Riviera? Ships leave out of San Fran and LA and do the west
Mexican coast line.
I've cruised the Caribbean in October and have had wonderful weather.
Todays ships can out run or detour around the weather for the most
part, but you have to do what is best for you.
Have fun.

| We cruised the Caribbean in the middle of October 1988, and had terrible
rain one day,(St. Lucia) (but that didn't stop us from having loads of fun.
Otherwise, a sprinkle here and there. That didn't stop us from
going on our second cruise last November. It rained for 20 minutes
2 out of the 7 days, in the afternoon. You can never really plan
on the weather.
Have a great time

I think asked the same question (kind of) way back around note 11
or so. WEll amyway the wife and I went to Bermuda the first week
of October. Had a GREAT time period! Waethere was 50-50 rain and
sun. As mentioned earlier, weather is weather, but a cruise is
a memory forever. the only snag would be if you where a sun worshiper.
otherwise, there is sooooo much to do and enjoy, on and off the
ship the you might not even LOOK outside :^).
Enjoy

191.5 | Trip insurance | DECLNE::WATKINS | Elvis is living in Peoria | Tue Feb 27 1990 10:48 | 2 |
| Given the hurricane season, why not take out trip insurance on this
trip? It wouldn't cost much and would pay for a return trip.
