First. Congradulations on going on the Nordic Prince you will
have an excellent cruising experiance. I wort my $.02 in 176.1
regarding this matter so I don't think the cruising notes conferance
wants to hear it again ;^). Just remember tips are up to you not
the cruise line. As for drinks, the pricses you mentioned ARE
correct. It depends what you get, A Coke to a three liquor drink.
The're preety go about the price.
My envoy and best wishes. My wife loves "her" Prince...

178.2 | prices and specials | LDYBUG::BERNSTEIN | | Tue Jan 16 1990 11:36 | 15 |
| Hi,
I can help with the drink prices. As of Nov 88 on the Song of
Norway. . .
Each day they had a drink special of the day - usually a fruity rum
drink - it was 1.75 - the other mixed drinks were about 2 - 2.50.
The most expensive were the multi-shot drinks and the frozen ones,
and they were 3.75. But at night after 1 AM all drinks were lowered
to 1.75 (the Night Owl Club).
You can tell where I spent a lot of time...
Enjoy,
Sharon

178.3 | Drink prices and tipping | DOMO::WESSELS | | Thu Jan 18 1990 12:09 | 13 |
| I was on the Song of America last week and the drink prices were $2.95
for a Pina Colada, frozen Marguarita, and Seven and Seven (highball).
The daily drink was $1.75. Beer was $1.50/can.
As far as tipping - our waiter sat us down and went into a long "song
and dance" on why he should be rated "excellent" and if he wasn't he
would lose his station (group of tables). We have cruisied before and
found him to be very rude on several occassions to both my husband and
me and overall unfriendly to our whole table and this little talk just
solidified our decision not too tip him. We did not tip him and were
more than happy to be truthful on our evaluation of his service.
otherwise - we loved the RCCL and will sail them again.

Hi:
Boy, am I surprised to hear this about RCCL!! I have sailed on their
line 11 times, with the latest being Nov. 1989 on the Sovereign.
I have never run across a rude waiter - they have been more than
friendly. As far as their "long song and dance", yes, they all do
give this speech and it is true, they will loose tables the next
cruise out if they are not rated excellent. If you were treated
rudely, you should have spoken to the maitre'd immediatley and that
would not have contined. I have cruise on a variety of lines and I
have personally found that RCCL is far above superior than the others.

| We were surprised, too. At one point near the end of the cruise,
someone from the table beside us was calling out to our waiter to get his
attention. The man sitting next to me told our waiter that someone was
trying to get his attention. Our waiter responded that it "was not his
station" and walked away.
This response, on top of a couple other snide remarks to us the first
two days, blew his tip.
Additionally, after the 2nd day or so, the maitre'd hung around our
area much more - we think that someone said something about him.
