    This is not directly related to CRUISING but since you all sound
    like "world travelers", or at least "carribean travelers", I thought
    I'd run this by you.

    I'm considering a vacation and by taking the kids (4yrs and 1yr) 
    we really have particular needs which must be met for an enjoyable time.
    
    I'm looking for a tropical destination which can provide the
    following (order is priority):
    
    Rental of a condo or house situated near the beach, as long as the
    walk to the beach doesn't require alot of stairs (eg. if the house
    was hillside, etc).
    
    Local shops to buy groceries, etc.
    
    Activities nearby, bike rentals, snorkeling, etc. (another family
    will be joining us to allow for the adults to venture off accasionally)
    
    Centrally located to restaurants, walking or biking distance
    (can't cook all the meals :) )
    
    Rental of autos not a necessity. We went on a trip last year to
    Sanbibel Island FLA, great place and considering going back, rented
    a car. Never really used it except for the trip to/from the airport.
    $300 can buy quite a few taxi rides...

    I think one of the best places you'll get an answer to your question is
    in the HOLIDAY_TRAVEL notesfile (JPOIND::HOLIDAY_TRAVEL).  All the 
    'landlubbers' hang out there.  Another notesfile you might try is the 
    TIMESHARE notesfile (IOALOT::TIMESHARE).
