60.0. "4-DAY CARNIVALE TRIP/APRIL '89" by ZONULE::BURNHAM () Thu Dec 29 1988 13:25

    HI..

I AM A NEW WRITER TO THIS NODE. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE RECENTLY
MADE RESERVATIONS ON THE CARNIVALE CRUISE SHIP OUT OF FLORIDA FOR
THE SPRING SCHOOL VACATION. WE ARE TAKING TWO TEENAGERS - 14 &
16 YEARS OLD. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST CRUISE TRIP. WE BOOKED THE
4 DAY TRIP...HAS ANYONE BEEN ON A 4-DAY CRUISE? OUR SHIP WILL BE
DOCKING IN FREEPORT AND NASSAU (A DAY EACH PORT) HAS ANYONE ANY
HELPFUL HINTS AS TO HOW TO GET AROUND ON THIS ISLANDS WHEN DOCKED?
HOW ABOUT INFO REGARDING SNORKLING TRIPS...WE VISITED FREEPORT IN
OCTOBER SO PRETTY MUCH HAVE AN IDEA WHERE EVERYTHING IS THERE BUT
WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO NASSAU....ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE GREATLY
    APPRECIATED.

    HI TOO...

Interesting. I just booked the three day one for mid April. This
will be our first cruise. It's our 20th and I'm making up for missing
last years anaversery. If we like it we will try a longer one. I
would also be interested in hearing from any one who has been on
    one of the shorter cruises.

I went on a 4-day last year. This year I went on a 7 day on the
Holiday. I now have something to compare.

The Mardi Gras is a much older ship than the Holiday. Also, being
smaller, there just doesn't seem to be as much to do....now that
I know how much a larger ship has. Also, the rooms were definately
older, and the pool was not that great...but all in all, if you
are looking for a cheap, short getaway...I recommend the 4-day.
The shows at night are great and it's alot of fun.

The 4-day was good because I was unsure whether I would get motion
sickness, but I definately like the newer ships...hope I didn't
discourage you...just trying to give an honest opinion...Kristen

    For general info:

I went on a three day Carnivale cruise compliments of Piedmont
Airlines. It was my first cruise and my wife and I had a marvelous
    time. Ratings:
Ship - old and due to be retired in 1990, but satisfactory.
Rooms - small, but who stays there anyway.
Food - Good, not great, but plenty and meals were always fun - we
           had a great waiter.
    Shows - Great
Drinks - Lousy, the worst thing.
    Staff - mostly helpful.

Overall, I was very happy and look forward to my next cruise. I
would look for a newer ship. This conference has some excellent
suggestions. I would probably try a 4 day on a different line,
    just to compare.
